Because major cities have a diverse population and that’s why they are largely liberal. It’s actually been proven that people who move from smaller, more rural areas to big cities become more liberal over time.

If you're bringing age into it though, consider that these so-called "boomers" (when really, "boomer" is used too much and incorrectly. It's Gen X'ers) were Democrats when they were younger and with age, responsibility and wisdom, they realized it's more advantageous on several fronts, to be conservative. Conservativism favors order, cleanliness, and fairness. It's the genuine "equality for all" whereas Liberalism likes to only delegate equality to classes they feel are under represented. That fucks with societies in the wrong kind of way. Again, admirable but the wrong way to do things.
