Hey Yas Forums, it's been a long time since I came on Yas Forums

I have been thinking of learning an East Asian language during quarantine. Would you recommend Mandarin? Is the script easier than other East Asian languages?

>seoeun comes over to my room to drink
>invite kyunghee over
>she has problems with her boyfriend or something so she can't come
>tell her it's okay
>we keep drinking our qingdao
>have dinner with seoeun basically everyday, so we become good friends
>a week later, decide to invite geonji over to drink, along with kyunghee
>the day of, geonji cancels and tells me to go over to the bar to drink
>ask kyunghee what she things, no reply
>at this point, i'm kinda pissed cuz she's done this for like weeks
>i say:
Look, I've tried to hang out with you for three weeks, and... I don't really think you care.
So, I'm not gonna try anymore
Have fun at the club
>send it
>immediately geonji deletes his invite text
>kyunghee replies with
I know you tried to fit in with us, but I have a boyfriend, I can't really hang out with you, i'm sorry
>cry and drink myself to sleep
>stay in my room for two days
>seojun knocks on my door and comes in with some qingdao
bro... I saw that text you sent Kyunghee... ahhh that was really bad......
>kyunghee thinks i am creepy as fuck, she thinks i will rape her, all the korean girls hate me and refuse to hang out with me

idk guys, what do you think? did i really fuck up that hard?

which culture are you more interested in?

Mandarin
>memorizing hanzi is a big time investment, but it's not really difficult
>grammar is easy
>lots of chinese willing to practice their language with you
>hardest language to speak well because of tones
> easier to learn korean and japanese

Korean
>you can learn hangeul in a day
>everything else is super fucking difficult, like japanese on steroids
>if you like drinking this is a good language to learn

Japanese
>easy pronunciation
>kana is not that bad
>kanji takes time, but is easier if you know chinese
>probably the hardest script to learn

mandarin is definitely to easiest to learn i mean, if you learn chinese it'll make other languages, especially japanese much easier

Retarded slant eye bitch. Forget about her and find another one there are literally a billion of them dont beat yourself up

I love both Chinese and Japanese history so I will decide between the two, I might pick mandarin if it is easier

Hanfu is the saddest fucking larp. I appreciate that the Japanese have managed to hold on to their clothing against Western borderless neoliberal corporate-mandated oneness.

Was that the end of the story, or is there more?

if you really like chinese history, there are tons of chinese historical dramas and shit, hanfu (traditional chinese clothing) is also experiencing a revival among the younger generation. if you ever need recommendations feel free to ask.

thanks user

>after that shit happens become really good friends with seoeun
>we go out and travel together across the city
>he gets a chinese gf, tries to help me get one
>go into the uni library, get a notebook and write in chinese "i think you are cute, can i add your wechat?"
>there's this one that's kinda pretty
>seoeun looks at me
bro... she's a fucking pig...
i cannot believe you actually a girl like that holy shit...
>whatever, give it to her
>she gives me one look, says "sorry" and keeps reading
>all the indonesian kids at the other table see me and laugh at me
>shit
>try again over the course of a month
>get like six different rejections
>actually works on one girl
>ask her to have lunch with me, keeps dodging
>she tells me a week later that she can't go because she has a date with her boyfriend
fuck

I admit, a lot of chinese people don't seem to know how to wear hanfu, they wear it with like tennis shoes and glasses and shit and it's kinda cringe.
If they wear it right it's really pretty though.
