I hope that the leaker only leaked the clips in a way to make it look absolutely dreadful and left out Ellie doing some really heinous shit that would make since as to why she is now the villain later on.
Game starts you play as new character Abby
Killing the dude that killed your father Isnt bad either from the muscle girl perspective
Yeah it's so badly executed I mean the story could work if tweaked and better executed but this is what you get when a game is directed by an ultra progressive habitual fart sniffer.
>Would it really have been that hard?
Considering they've been hyping the character appeal of Joel and Ellie since before this plot was likely developed and that - and I have no solid numbers for this, just a hypothesis - probably >50% of the fanbase is even there just to wank about MUH DAUGHTER and other fantasies about Ellie, yes, it probably would have been impossible for them to not give you Ellie and/or Joel to play.
or if he wasn't a tranny and didn't brutally kill joel
I wouldn't take that bet, but the biggest reason I'm mad is because this hamfisted CYCLES OF VIOLENCE ARE YOUR EXPECTATION SUBVERTED YET shit is already fucking tired. Didn't the 90's and early 2000's already happen? Why are we still pretending amateurish misinterpretations of postmodernism and deconstruction are something new or worth exploring just because literal kids just figured it out?
It's the most generic motivation for a character you could possibly write.
It's a huge cliche but because this is a video game apparently the writers think they are on to something here.
But what about the cordyceps?
Or they could have kept the focus on Ellie.
>Have Joel up and vanish. Skip ahead a few years.
>Ellie hears rumors from Joels friends that he could have saved what's left of humanity if he let her be operated on and didn't kill everyone in the hospital
>Ellie goes out to find and confront Joel, going to Seattle, then Vancouver BC, then finally White Horse.
>Loses her girlfriend and friends along the way, building intense resentment for Joel and what he did
>Makes it to White Horse, finds Joel died a week before she made it there.
>Ellie loses it and goes mental, kills everyone in the town, attracting infected.
>Game ends with her a broken mess fending off infected, fate is unknown.
>Story is still about how "revenge" is bad. Also deals with the fact that sometimes we never get closure on things.
Maybe they should've made the tranny motivation be trying to save the world, and she needed Ellie for that. But they wouldn't give her away and shit, so in the end it would be like the inverse of Joel actions in the first game, where now the tranny needs to kill people to save the world.
