I think the idea is: running away from your problems to live in a fantasy world is bad because you're not handling the problems themselves - it's a bad coping mechanism because it doesn't help you actually deal with the problem.
Except that's not always true. Lots of people come out of these little escapes refreshed and ready to tackle the problem for real even better than if they had been "troopers" and not given themselves time to decompress. Sometimes the problem isn't the kind that you can "face" and "solve" and this escape helps you function in spite of the problem. Sometimes you did everything you need to do, handled all your responsibilities and you just want to play some fucking video games.
Life can be horrible nightmare, sometimes taking a break is the smart thing to do. But also, living in a fantasy world all the time and ignoring your responsibilities is weak and lazy. Basically, moderation.

FFTA's message about escapism works because Marche too benefitted from the fantasy world where he could finally be respected as a hero and have attention on him for once instead of his cripple brother, so it makes it more respectable that he chose reality over the false world. On the other hand, Joker's entire existence is an escapist power fantasy for edgy losers, so the thought that his entire game is about rejecting a fantasy world where everything works out is fucking insulting to the player's common sense

A lot of people assume there's something about reality for most people to 'fix' or improve in any meaningful way. Chances are, they can't have a family because women are modern women: they create scarcity of sex and then create OnlyFans accounts where they benefit financially from said scarcity. If they 'fixed' their problems, they would live a life where they focused on a soul-crushing job and lived alone until they died, also alone. If they do, by chance, get married, statistically they'll get divorced and end up the same. Maybe their kids will visit once in a while when they're back from their mom's house.
Escapism is bad, of course, but when there's no better option, you shouldn't be surprised it happens.
