IF yOu DoN't LiKe It, ThE oRiGiNaL sTiLl ExIsT

Good concept, premise, characters etc. Can feel good to return to it, especially if you're going to do something different

Being different doesn't make it good.

You're assuming things are remade to cater to the original audience and not a new one. If the remake hits old fans then that's fine but I doubt they're being considered as much as potential new customers.

>why remake it if youre going to just REMAKE it?

NO IT DOESN'T. Just kidding, choke on a dick.

But if you're going to put the characters into a completely different situation, that's not really the same game, is it? I understand making changes here and there but as long as the same plot beats, character developments, etc. still exist, it's fine. But FF7r has basically become a reimagining or some form of pseudo sequel. I believe it's fair for people to be upset.

Also, answer my question: If they literally changed everything but still called it FF7r, would that be okay?

You can make a remake for various reasons, to bring a classic back to a new audience, to retell a story, to bring it back with a new vision, etc. the company decides what they want, it's their product. We don't know what square wants with this remake, maybe it's a remake with what they think FF7 should've been, maybe they are just being cheeky and calling it a remake because in game they are "remaking" the story in a different time line or whatever and it's actually a spin off or sequel. Whatever they do, the original is still there and nothing can change that.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this.

FF7 is still there and you can even mod it for improved graphics.

MHGU and 4U are about as good as the old style is ever going to get and they're still there and supported.

SM64 is still there, you're not forced to play DS

MGS is still there, you're not forced to play TS

Resident Evil 1-3 are still just as purchasable now as they were back in the 90s.

If your biggest problem with a remake is that it's a remake and you want the original, it's right over there. unless you want WC3

>If you're going to drastically change that much in the game
They didn't do any drastic changes though. Aside from time jannies, everything else is the same.

That's true.
