i love the mario galaxy games, granted it took me a while to enjoy galaxy 2 but once it kicked in i rolled the game in a few days
now odyssey, i genuinely can't stand it. i played with my wife because i couldn't enjoy it alone after the 3rd world. had my niece play it, had my brother play it. it's not even a fun game to watch being played.. genuinely confused nintendo is giving this game a second run, but ehh im probably in the minority.

It's not that it's not riddled with glitches & exploits, it's just that its a slow, floaty game with a momentum halting spin as its standout added movement option. It is pretty well designed throughout the whole adventure & has a bunch of other things going for it ( Best Power-Up implementation in 3D Mario, Best & most fun swimming controls in 3D Mario, a neat story in Galaxy 1, etc ) but its not as satisfying as it could have been, and its low skill ceiling hampers its replayability. Still a 8/10 game to me at worst.

Mario Galaxy kinda sucks ape anus tho even the second one. Sunshine is peak comfy-kino and I've been waiting for a remaster of that for years now.

galaxy 2 is 3D world but with more atmosphere which i like. galaxy's level design isn't as good as galaxy 2

i played 2 before 1 and this might be why i feel the same way, but i just couldnt really get into 1 ||it doesnt help i dont like rosalina|| and i really liked the green stars, even some of the literal "you get one chance and if you miss you die" stars

Hard agree. SMG 1 & 2 are fucking masterpiece platformers.

Movement is by far the most important part of any platformer game, and SMG has shit movement. Cope.

I’m just not a fan of the way Mario controls and the physics. It feels like you’re wading through mud for the entire game, and you don’t have FLUDD to make Mario’s movement feel nicer like in Sunshine.
Depends on what you want. 3D Mario initially made its name with sandbox style level design which is part of why its dick gets sucked despite it being a departure for Mario. That said, so was going 3D in the first place and I certainly can't fault Nintendo for looking the opportunity in the eye with 64 and Sunshine. Having said all that, I do prefer the more linear/small open structure design of Galaxy, though I can't think of much of a reason for the moveset to be dumbed down beside the Wiimote being what it was. But yeah, it's all compromises and differing tastes, sandboxfags like the ones they like and linearfags like the ones they like.
