28 now, on my 5th car
What age did you get your drivers license?
I didn't. But the driving theory course was obligatory in my uni.
Why don't you just bribe your examiners?
I'm 29 and getting it this year because it'll probably expand my job opportunities.
You might would lose points but not necessarily fail
My friend did that in Germany
yeah the "manueverability" section is the "hard" part, and most people don't even use it because they don't live in a city (which is where parallel parking is really necessary).
The honest truth is yes, you do have to be fucking two-digit IQ to not get an american driving license. No one here admits it except for like "oh lol I failed my first time because >muh noover ability". US requirements are extremely low. In addition, it is almost impossible to lose a driver's license, which is perhaps the scarier bit, because you get elderly people who really shouldn't still be driving that continue to do it. I've known at least three instances now in my small state that old people caused accidents, and yet I can personally tell you from multiple firsthand experiences that the BMV is a joke. They are supposed to test your ability to maintain a license whenever you come in to renew, but the reality is that it takes more work to fail someone (including filing paperwork and making them retake their tests later), so they go out of their way to make sure you keep on renewing. There is additional impetus from business and government, because without more cars on the road, you can't keep auto shops and car dealers running and you can't keep getting taxes from gasoline sales. Also, if the person still works, then they are fucked, because you can't get to your job if you don't have a car. So the net effect is that even though grandma can't read the first line of the vision test, we'll keep her on the road and call it a sad tragedy when she inevitably kills someone. Or, we just pray that she voluntarily gives up her license. That's pretty much the only way you ever lose your license in the US.

I know a literal downy that has one

I'm 27 and I was going to get it earlier this year but COVID-19 happened
