Does anyone else get the feeling that professional musicians are so far above them? They seem like gods to me. Like they are so much cooler and more perfect than any other people. Even someone who is a frontman of some shitty indie band with 500,000 spotify listeners gets to be worshipped as a god and treated as a king among men. How can I ever hope to compare to these people? It isn't fair.
Does anyone else get the feeling that professional musicians are so far above them? They seem like gods to me...
Accept that you aren't one of the lucky ones who are able to apply themselves and learn at a consistent rate. It's simply a fact that some people are predisposed to be better at music. This doesn't disqualify you from making great music though, you just have to work harder than they do at it and since you have no experience with working at their level, it won't even really feel like you're working harder. Literally anyone can be a musician user, just look at some of the trite that gets posted here. Success clearly doesn't equal "Talent". But as long as you make music with the intention of comparing yourself to others or overtaking them, you will indeed suck. But you don't have to. So learn what you like in music and do it and stop caring about what other musicians are doing, you aren't them.
But how do I get to their godlike level of social status? Musicians with any level of fame, even just small time fame and 500,000 listeners, can walk around and be worshipped as gods and find screaming fans everywhere they go. Men want to be them, women want to fuck them. Look at someone like Jpegmafia. He's ugly, he's barely even famous. But because he's a semi-successful musician, he is worshipped as a god by his fans and can have sex with almost anyone he wants. Why?
>Does anyone else get the feeling that professional musicians are so far above them?
Nah, whenever I even start to feel like that I look at Bernard Sumner who hs spent 30+ years being a frontman of a band who can't sing and play guitar together to the point that it becomes obvious on almost every track he's on excluding his early work which had another guy leading the band.
You wanna feel like you're on the same level as a pro musician. Sing and play Guitar at the same time. That's all it takes.
>Nah, whenever I even start to feel like that I look at Bernard Sumner who hs spent 30+ years being a frontman of a band who can't sing and play guitar together to the point that it becomes obvious on almost every track he's on excluding his early work which had another guy leading the band.
But no matter what Bernard Sumner does, no matter how shitty an album New Order might make, no matter how shitty his live performances may get, he will always be worshipped as a GOD and elevated to another level of human existence. He can gain respect and adoration that 99.9% of humans will never hope to achieve. All because he got lucky and became a professional musician.
It just doesn't seem fair. I want to have that same level of worship directed towards me. I want people to treat me as a GOD.
first above all,
>can have sex with almost anyone he wants.
not really true for most artists and even if it were i don't think you'll get far if that's what matters to you the most lmao
but anyways, it's really not that complex. if you want to be famous you have to build yourself a fanbase and that won't happen by itself so get started now and maybe in a couple years you'll have a following
Have you seen the way some musicians look? Some musicians are absolutely hideous looking guys. But simply because they 1. Make music and 2. Are famous (even just a little famous) from their music, they are seen as a sex icon by their fans and by a wide range of women.
You can't tell me someone like Thom Yorke would EVER be desired by more than a small handful of women if he wasn't a musician. But right now I can go round to a bunch of girls who like Radiohead, and they can say, "Thom is so hot, he makes me drool, his voice makes me wet". Wtf? Why is it fair he gets to be treated like that?
first above all, thom's not ugly. i could totally see why people would be into him, especially back when he was younger. regardless of what your appearance is like there's always going to be someone who finds you attractive and being famous means that more of these people actually get to know about you. people are more likely to comment on how attractive someone they like is than call an unattractive person ugly. and let's not also forget that being a musician is a great way to interact with your fans and get THEM to know YOU. a big part of what makes people attractive is their personality and their behavior, you dumb fucker
1 the entire process isn't a mystery. learn how to mix and master and you see how lesser things are made to sound better. barring that, study marketing. anyone's who's popular in the way in which you are describing isn't an accident. no one's THAT fucking regarded on talent alone. 50% the work maybe, 50% the machinations behind it.
2 is this really your intention with your work? to have this kind of popularity so you can get laid by airheads or whatever and treated like a prophet by obvious shills and sycophants? maybe you're comparing yourself to the wrong thing. sounds pretty awful to me personally. why not just make your fucking art and let the rest sort itself out?
>why not just make your fucking art and let the rest sort itself out?
Because I want to be worshipped like a god. I have no desire to be an ordinary plebeian who people walk past in the street without having a second thought about him. I want people to bow before me. I want to walk out onto a stage and have people screaming wildly, and women fainting in ecstacy at the sight of me.
i know someone irl who gets discussed on here for her body of work all the time and can't find a date with someone she has an authentic human connection with to save her life. it's not as easy as it looks and probably less so for women bc the sexual component isn't always the most important thing.
Okay it was a good troll. Thx.
Some people are lucky some people aren't. Many of us are unlucky. Yes it sucks a lot.
But I just get so jealous of it all.
I see the way people talk about musicians that they like. Every musician, male or female, small or big, is put onto a pedestal. Once you cross that threshold into being "famous", whether that's just indie-level underground fame or whether it's global fame, you basically become a god among men and will get worshipped by people.
The idea of me one day being famous for my music, having Anons post my picture on Yas Forums, getting asked for autographs and pictures in the street, it sounds GODLIKE. I want to experience that.
Why measure yourself purely on musical ability. Unless it's the only way you make money it can just be a fun hobby. Make noise just for fun and for yourself
this. sure, you might get to fuck someone who only wants to sleep with you because you're famous but how is that any different than any other hookup? like, finding a one-night stand really isn't as hard as some people make it out to be and for a lot of people it's not that satisfying either
then you'll have to earn the public's respect and adoration and that won't happen if all you think about is some nebulous, abstract and warped idea of what being famous is like, smartass
Most people are idiots who'd worship a frog if it was popular to do so. They aren't worth it
You don't need to have skill or talent to be a famous musician, user. You just need to be charismatic and attractive
>Make noise just for fun and for yourself
No. You don't understand. I don't want to be an ordinary plebeian. I don't want to have to work the 9-5, shop at the local supermarket, walk around in the streets as just another blank nameless face. I don't want to live a mundane life.
I want, like the famous musicians, to become GOD. I want to live an extraordinary life where I am considered to be another level of human being, as professional musicians are. I want to walk in the streets and be asked for photographs and autographs. I want to perform on stages and be faced with screaming, adoring crowds. I want to see anons on this website posting my picture and saying "how does he do it?", hell, even shittalking me, any discussion, I want to be RELEVANT and EXTRAORDINARY.
I cannot take a single second more of this boring, mundane, ordinary life. I dont want to be just another faceless member of the 8 billion. I want to be part of the elite few who are worshipped.
Nah nigggaaaaaaaaaaa.
Social status is somewhat overrated. Looksmaxx, musicmaxx, moneymaxx. Social status is shitty
Pablo Honey Thom was pretty cute not gonna lie. Especially when he had that long blonde bangs.
Afterwards, he looked like an ugly chimp fuck.
>Social status is somewhat overrated. Looksmaxx, musicmaxx, moneymaxx. Social status is shitty
No. It doesn't matter how much of this you do. If you do not attain fame, you will always be just another plebeian who no one cares about. Every time you walk down the street, no one will give you a second thought. No one will care about you, you will leave no legacy when you die.
I personally believe it's better to live a whirlwind life and die a legend at 27, like Kurt Cobain or Jimi Hendrix, than to be yet another faceless member of the 8 billion who dies at 90 with zero legacy.
1) even if there are people who think you're a god that won't necessarily mean you are one. being famous brings its own host of issues you'll have to deal with
2) if that's what you really want then what's the point of this thread? why aren't you working towards that goal RIGHT NOW?
>No one will care about you, you will leave no legacy when you die.
factually incorrect. there's plenty of ways you can leave a legacy and make the world a better place without having people necessarily know your name but i understand how you feel so i can't be too condescending on the matter
you have to be able to preform the most generic shit that has ever been compiled into a song that is the only way to make it in this biz
>even if there are people who think you're a god that won't necessarily mean you are one. being famous brings its own host of issues you'll have to deal with
It doesn't matter, I don't care. I'd rather be depressed and famous than be a happy nobody.
>if that's what you really want then what's the point of this thread? why aren't you working towards that goal RIGHT NOW?
I'm not talented enough.
How would one go about getting a fanbase?
He references Jpeg in this post and you reply with 'play generic shit' Literally makes no sense. I'm not going to argue how alternative Jpeg is or isn't in the game of rap but he's definitely not generic.
You know most musicians who become that famous fucking hate themselves right?
Well if you're not talented just work at it as much as you possibly can. Expose yourself to as much music as possible, practice consistently every day. Hell now is a better time than ever to start, it's not like most people can even go to work right now. Just stick to a schedule and see how much that does already.
>I'm not talented enough.
so? who's talking about talent? becoming famous already takes a lot of work so why does it matter whether you're talented or not? what ARE you doing to compensate for your lack of talent anyways? to me it just sounds like you're whining about how you'll never be successful without even trying
this is the most reddit take ever. even pop music has to constantly innovate itself in small ways in order to stay relevant and stand out. you can't keep setting new trends while sticking to what's already been done
I don't care.
The point is that when someone becomes famous, even just a small tiny amount of fame, they basically become a different kind of human being. Everything they do is cool and they set trends with everything they do. Trent Reznor in the 90s was violently depressed and hated himself, but he got to walk around looking like a cringey mallgoth with dyed black hair and wearing eyeliner and leather gloves, and people thought he was so cool and he got worshipped and put as posters on peoples walls. Meanwhile if I as a regular plebeian start doing that, if I start wearing eyeliner and leather pants and sing songs with cringey lyrics about how "MY HEART AND SOUL IS BLACK AND GREY" people would call me a pathetic faggot and I would be laughed at.
Fame literally changes the scope of what you are able to do and what you can get away with. Another case in point: Fucking Clairo. Again, she's barely famous. Most people dont know who she is. She looks like just any generic girl of about 20 years of age. But because she's attained that indie level of fame, she becomes an icon, she gets worshipped, random anons see her as a goddess, she can pull off generic art hoe looks and it will be seen as cool and she gets to be in magazine covers.
I want to be famous so that I can do anything and be worshipped. I want to ascend above the ordinary plebeians.
Hahaha You think Trent Reznor was worshipped from the start of his musical career?
It's called dedication, taking risks and letting yourself look retarded in front of everyone because you believe in what youre doing.
Fucking 14 year olds
...
>it's this nikka wit the same thread AGAIN
>Hahaha You think Trent Reznor was worshipped from the start of his musical career?
Yes he was, I've seen videos of NIN's live shows in 1991 when he was basically an indie musician and there are girls running on to stage just to kiss him, or he goes up to crowd and starts licking his mic and the girls scream in ecstacy.
Literally girls will wet themselves with cum over any random guy who plays in a band. It's not fair.
