So I finished European Echos by Manfred Schoof and I honestly think it’s been a watershed moment in my enjoyment of music as overly dramatic as that sounds. It’s not something I would ever expect to like, something so dissonant should be repulsive and yet it isn’t: I think it’s pretty obvious that the guys playing the instruments are at such a talent level where they can afford to really go against conventional music styles while remaining enjoyable. It’s really fucking fun and energetic, and honestly there are even some really beautiful moments where the saxophone kind of rises above or the deep chellos are at the forefront. That was actually fucking awesome I’m thrilled I feel like my musical horizons have expanded.
