It's maximalist by design though
maximalist =/= loudness war. If anything it's particularly bad for a maximalist sound to reduce dynamic range.
>it's bad so it's actually good
>It's maximalist by design though
>loud and blown out = maximalist
stop being a fucking retard, if anything it's supposed to be the opposite
Haven’t listened to this but from looking at the waveforms, here is the likely issue. Too much compression, not enough focus on a tight limiting and narrow sound. Limiters are a lot more forgiving than compressors more often than not. So clearly from what I’m seeing the sound engineer fucked up either in the mixing or mastering phase and used a compressor with a high ratio to hurt the performance dynamics and the beats themselves, then proceeded to use a maximizer to again rebrutalize it. Rap music needs to be loud and have tight limiting, not an overcompressed sound with a long attack time. Otherwise, if the beats cannot properly fit together in harmony, the mix might as well be scrapped.
Based!

No, he’s right. Although it isn’t usually ideal, applying more compression and more maximizing/limiting will create the illusion of a grander mix because all of the instrument pieces will blend into one. An example of this technique actually working would be on Oasis’s Albums like Morning Glory and Be Here Now.

>Be Here Now
This is like the most notorious victim of the loudness war and it sounds like shit.
>people still memeing that brickwalling is a bad thing
Dynamics don't mean shit in pop music, this isn't classical
Anybody can make one. You could make one in like five minutes with Audacity.
I mean, technically, yeah. But the extreme compression used on the guitars creates an illusion of an extremely large mix is what I’m saying

I was more curious to see if there were any more like it for other famous albums at the source.
Here’s a comparison I did for Come As You Are by Nirvana on Nevermind.
