She does. So do Duffy and Estelle and all the other bland as cookie cutter British blue eyed soul acts. I was saying I don't think your comparison to LA pop isn't apt beyond just "there is a record industry and they shill stuff" which is the case for literally every other genre/scene making even semi-mainstream music from jazz to pop to hip hop.

The difference is that the labels came to the acts, post disco companies started branding and creating their own acts more heavily and being involved with their image. Obviously acts like the doors had mainstream appeal but to compare their pop culture success with acts like Amy Winehouse is pure self flagellation and ignorance. K-pop uses this same industry template now, speaking of mo-town those are all pop acts, but does that mens they have literally any industry money or influence? The help of the digital age? Viral marketing? I don’t think so. The two time periods don’t even compare. Don’t tell me that Some Karen that was picking out which rubber colored bracelet she wanted at hot topic to let the boys know what sex acts she was into is even the same as a singer with published poetry and did regular stints in jail for what he did on stage is the same thing.
