Wow that’s actually crazy
I can only speculate, but I don't think the two are connected. I honestly think Beethoven just went total madman and went 100+ years ahead of his time on this track
Changes music forever again
WE WUZ ERRTHANG N SHIEEEET
so what?
Amazing
i hear the connection, but calling that ragtime, let alone jazz, is fucking bold
*derived from african instruments*
wow cultures were influenced by other cultures, incredible
There’s definitely some swing in there
absolutely, but swing probably isnt the only element that makes ragtime ragtime
and definitely not the only element that makes jazz jazz
But certainly foundational
yeah, and im sure that beethoven piece was very influential
what im arguing is just that it probably shouldnt be called ragtime, and that it definitely shouldnt be called jazz
Agreed.
>Africa
>Piano
His teacher was a music professor from Germany who introduced him to a lot of classical works, I still think Joplin was fantastic and original but he didnt create something out of a vacuum, classical music doesn't have this hang up about pretending you have no influnces like American music does.
>Beethoven just went total madman and went 100+ years ahead of his time
Sonata no 32 is just a mad work so modern for the time youtu.be
Only instrument a nigger contributed to the world was blowing into an empty beer bottle
Ragtime had its moment, but it's a historical curiosity now. I would hardly call that "changing music forever".
John Piano got the idea when he was on a safari holiday and saw a zebra
hahahaha
Yes.
there isnt much similarity here apart from the name
whats the score look like?
Was this actually composed with triplets, or is that a creative liberty of the player here?
lmao
ahhhhhhh
but you see: is swinging triplets?
hmmmmm?
Novelty piano was more interesting than ragtime. It was the first purely mechanized music that humans couldn't sensibly play (at least as a soloist), decades before sequencers existed.
wrong
the earliest musical instruments are found in Europe and Asia
NOT Africa.
Musical instruments only appear in Africa after Europe and Asia had been playing them for thousands of years.
ah
novelty thinking
>needing instruments to make music
stupid fucking aryans
Maple Leaf Rag almost songs like a rock and roll song. Jazz musicians have also taken inspiration from it
the genre was called novelty piano
