There are no classics from the 2010s

Is there even one album released in the 2010s that will go on to be remembered as a "timeless record"? One that is universally acclaimed, which says profound things about the time in which it was released, or that shifted the sound of its genre forward by leaps and bounds? I don't think there is any such album from the '10s. I think it's the first decade since "albums" began to not have even one classic.

What does MBDTF say about the world in 2010? The album is literally just about Kanye's personal life, Fantano was right (for once), you can't give a fuck about what that album says unless you deeply care about Kanye as an individual.
It had precisely zero influence on the sound of hip hop in the 2010s either. Changed literally nothing about music.

Not a fan of this elf, but she's undeniably brilliant.

News flash: Absolutely nobody gives a fuck about these guys outside of music nerds. To have a "classic album" (not just a cult classic) you really do need to have a somewhat universal appeal. Part of the definition of a classic record is that everyone pays a great deal of attention to it at one point or another.

I dont see this being forgotten in the next 30 years

Again, nobody knows who she is outside of alternative/indie circles and forums such as Yas Forums.

Most "classic" albums aren't classic by your metric then. Jazz of the kind music nerds like scares off your average music listener for an easy example.

You're halfway there with this one, it has had a profound influence on hip hop so far since its release, and it fulfills the "popularity quota", decent critically acclaimed, but I really don't think it has that explosive factor that a classic really needs.

i'd take you more seriously if you weren't so arrgoant

I don't think she's quite as obscure as you think. Maybe you're right. I don't get out much.

Nevertheless, popularity doesn't need to be a criterion for something to be considered a timeless classic.

This take is so fucking atrocious and you just had to namedrop Fantano to make it even worse. I honest to God hope this is bait.

OP is probably a guy who thinks Dark Side of the Moon is the best Pink Floyd album.

>came out in 2010
Ah yes, one classic from the very start of the decade. Bravo, 10s, bravo.

the first half produced tons of great works but 2015 onward was just abysmal all around. pic related is one of the few actually albums from that period that I'd consider great.

Lil B lost all of his good will with his weirdo foot memes and shitty post-Black Ken comeback.

final cut all the way baby

regardless of whether you like it or not, the answer to your question is TPAB.

This is probably what most people would point to, even though I don't like it.

>music nerd
College freshman normies aren't music nerds

exactly, which is why I said mainstream appeal
Yas Forums doesn't encompass the entirety of music nerds

Who are these music nerds who enjoy Igor? Those "music nerd" types most likely stopped listening to Tyler after Cherry Bomb.
His fanbase is mostly teenagers and early 20 year olds.

Tyler started getting more respect from music nerd types with Flower Boy and Igor.

The ones in facebook music groups, RYM, twitter, etc.
>b-but they don't use Yas Forums and don't hate mainstream music, that means they're not music nerds!
"No!". A music nerd is someone who is way more into music than your average person, and these people (even if you don't like what they like) are objectively music nerds.

no not really. gays are just louder
