Not really. Although what Elvis did could be seen as appropriation today, in times of segregation this actually propelled the civil rights movement by putting a greater spotlight on black artists. Most black musicians at the time had an affinity for Elvis.

Elvis wasn’t racist in the sense he held racist beliefs, people consider Elvis to be racist because he was a white face for black music so that white audiences could consume black art without having to deal with the dissonance that comes from oppressing a people while simultaneously admiring their art. Elvis loved black music and grew up listening to it which is why he was able to do what he did convincingly.

the middle period was him just being under contract to make movie soundtrack music and most of it was godawful boy band tier shit

then the late 60s comeback was like nothing hed ever done before (actually played electric guitar which nobody had ever seen him do before)
