Yeah, mainly my left foot, been a problem since I was a kid but I always was able to dig the nail out and trim it. This is new to me and kinda freaks me out

Mine is exactly the same way, and I also had chronic problems. The root of the nail was even removed, but the nail came back (??) now it has a constant yellowish tint to it. I just leave mine be. They don’t hurt anymore, so if it’s not painful to you, I’d say leave it

No there is no pain, I read around and it seems to be toenail fungus, my mother and grandmother had it and they said it can be genetic to be predisposed. I’m just gonna trim them really far back and scrub with with soap and baking soda. Hopefully that fixes it, I’m leaving for MEPs for the military in a few months and I worry this will interfere or somehow disqualify me, but like I said there is no pain.

If there’s no pain, then I see no reason why it should interfere with anything. Granted, I’m not military OR a doctor, just someone who’s lived with something similar. To me, I don’t see any reason why the military would give a fuck about some toe fungus.

Medfag here. As other anons said, fungus. If you remove it and it grows back it can be a bit higher away from the base, so it looks yellowish. Like But don't leave it. Go to the doctor, he will you give you something to aplly on it.

Do I have to remove the entire nail? By looking at it, it’s only brittle and discolored towards the tip, but the base looks like my normal nail. Is it savable? Thanks for the advice btw.

I consulted dr Funcy on this.. he says if there is an infection of the toenail, best thing to do is remove the whole leg.

soak in Hydrogen Peroxide twice a day for a few weeks and it should clear up

not effective. would kill the fungus but it cannot reach it. the likely mechanism of action of
terbinafine is to block the production of an enzyme by the fungus that it needs to break down peroxide. Without it, the fungus is slowly poisoned. it can be a little rough on some people's liver. they do a full panel one month into treatment to check. don't stop until you are totally clear. physicians tend to think that a three month course is enough. if you have a large big toe nail, you might need an extra month.
