Has anyone seen a port as illustrated before? Not as in the picture, that's just there for reference purposes

ok so here's the story: my external hard drive's port and cable looked like the way i'm describing and the cable wouldnt go in the port, i check it out and notice some of the pins are bent. i then try to unbend the pins with a needle and notice some of the pins broke off. i try to put in the cable anyways and after finetuning the position of the pins i finally get the cable in. now here comes the weird part: a couple days later the port no longer has pins... instead it looks like the port and cable in the picture of the image i posted. how the actual fuck is this possible?
