What's your favorite amp? I've been researching far and wide, and I think that the Mesa Boogie Mark 5, the Marshall JCM 800, and the Peavey 6505+ are the best amps for my kind of music (rock and metal).

I'm going to get the Peavey amp because I don't have enough money for the Mesa or the Marshall.

Post opinions! General guitar thread

The new 30 watt version of the Soldano SLO 100 is fire. Peavey is a good amp for the price

I stick to anything Marshall or peavey but one of my favorite and best amps I own is a orange crush. Orange brand amps have always been the best for me.

I'll definitely check it out.

Yeah, the 6505+ has a really great thrash tone, it roars a little bit like a Marshall. Great amp. I can't wait to jam on it.

it depends on what kind of sound you're ultimately looking for, and I'm hardly an expert.

I can tell you I love grunge and punk and I'm a LesPaul/Marshall person who leans towards Soundgarden and Pearl Jam and then you got the Fender/Peavey guys that are lighter and whinier (like Nirvana)

I love my LesPaul, its rosewood fretboard and my Marshall. Heavy, rancid, crunchy

I just couldn't get into Orange amps, it just had too much bass for me. I could see maybe using it for a specific kind of creation, like stoner doom maybe, but I couldn't see using it as a general use amp. It still sounds great though. What do you like about Orange?

What Marshall model do you have?

VS102R

I'm a lucky fucker who got a used one in impeccable condition for 125 bucks

Beginner here
Got a Jackson DK1 cheap by pure luck
What other gear do I need? Only got some old guitar processors I also got on the cheap

Funny you say because I like it for the bass personally. I’ve always liked a fat heavy sound with some rumble. I’m a classic rock guy myself so I’m always switching over to the dirty output and really getting some Led Zeppelin vibes. I’d say if you want to catch some classic gritty tones or some warm clear tones it’s the amp for you. It has some killer reverb too if you’re feeling country or western

I can't buy the Soldano amp online :(. It sounds great though! Good suggestion. It could maybe have a little bit more bass.

Sounds cool.

I gotta be honest, I just use amplitube now. it's comfier to sit at a desk and play with headphones for me.
not an exciting answer though.

Sunn model T, first version. Hit the front with a RAT and you are in business.

>be me
>poorfag
>using a second-hand Fender amp for 5+ years
It's pretty meh but it gets the job done

>Jackson DK1
Dude get a marshall 50. I used to have a DFX and it sounded great (didn't give a fuck about the "fx" in it)

Anything Marshall 50W and up, I'd plug to that thing

I own a Boogie Mark V and I love it. Probably the most versatile guitar amp on the planet. You can tweak it to sound like pretty much anything.

Jackson is a great brand, I'm also getting a Jackson, a little more higher-end though, about $650 for one.

I'd recommend the above amps, or if you don't want to buy a tube amp, you could get some nice Randall solid-state amps.

Yeah, I figured haha, that's cool. I definitely wouldn't mind having one.

I think Mesa Boogies have the best clean tone, its crystal clear, you could hear a pin drop. Great stuff

Nah dude no. There's no "gets the job done". Love that shit. It's YOUR guitar. That's how it works

Yeah, I just couldn't get into the computer guitar stuff. It just seems to artificial. But that's cool.

Also this. The Mark V's clean circuit was modeled off of Fender amps and is probably the best clean channel you're going to get on a high gain amp.

Agreed, completely agreed.

it's a bit better when you ASIO drivers to cut down any input delay, and then add on some room reverb. impulse responses have made cab and amp sims pretty close to reality, but it's only been in the last ~5 years. most people are still thinking of 2005-2010 amp sims and get turned off by it.

Used to have a Dual Rectifier and a bunch of other shit. Got the Axe FX and slowly sold them off.

Cool, I'll have to check some of them out.

I got a Randall RM100 for $60. Works but has no modules so it was a slight risk buying. It has 2 x 12ax7 and 4 x 6L6.

The modules run for about $200 each so I have never actually bought one but I run BIAS FX2 though the loop back and its amazing.

If you havent tried BIAS and have an Audio Interface lying around, give it a shot.

if you have any kind of audio interface, you should have asio drivers that will work well enough. just poke around and find a cracked amplitube.

A peavey VTM is like a Marshall JCM 800 but better and cheaper.

honestly the bugera v2 is a sweet amp, i have a v5 that i use for bar gigs and home practice but used the v2 to record a record and loved it, great tone and response for a great price.

the amplifier just make the creators idea louder

the guitar just CRYSTALISES in SOUND the creators IDEA

idea is imperative..... equipment is 0% of process

You're a fucking retard if you think hardware doesn't make a difference.

A retard on a nice guitar can make it sound like trash but with a bit of skill it makes the world of difference.

Fuck you for making me reply troll.

The way you put it sounds gay, but that's true.

For anyone just playing to themselves or with a a band for fun, get a Boss Katana 50 until you're actually playing gigs. You can explore different sounds and effects with that when you need them, but otherwise just play until you're good or serious enough that it actually matters.
