So the US is giving their citizens $1200. What are other countries doing ?

UK for 3 months at least (can be extended) is paying furloughed employees to stay at home and not work for the company to save their jobs, 80% of their wage is paid by the government up to the value of £2500 per month.

This is to ensure that no business has to pay out or let go people because of lack of business.

$1200 is, to be blunt, not that good.

in the event of me losing my job, the gub'mint pays 80% of my wages until this all blows over

I'm in the UK - I've been working as a temp for a company for over a year now, if I get laid off will I receive furlough?

Isn't it a one time payment?

In japan its about $2,700 per month

>What are other countries doing ?
Giving furloughed employees 80% of their salary up to the equivalent of $3125 per month.

So this $1200...it's a one-off payment? Or is that per week?

Upon reflection, surely it can't be a one-off, considering how great and rich America is compared with my "3rd-world shithole"

>if I get laid off will I receive furlough?
Depends. If the company agreed to furlough you, yes. If not, then you need to claim Universal Credit...at least that's my understanding.

(continued to add)
I also believe it depends on your employed status. Are you temp through an agency that effectively employs you? or are you self-employed? or do you have your own limited company (as I do)?

cool. thanks bro

It's only a one time help. Americans average $55k a year.....
