Hillary won by 3 million votes

Some of us are old enough to remember the 2000 election and what a mess it was.
Some of us learned of the details of the electoral college back then, seeing it as a flawed system no matter who won.
Some of us didn't even vote for Hillary.

We should have changed our system then, for the 2004 election, or the 2008, or the 2012. But the people who have the power to change our voting system use it to gain power.

Abolishing the electoral college will not change the 2016 election, obviously now years later. But even if we had moved to change the system at the start of 2017, Trump would still be President.
He won the Presidency. Congratulations, now can we please axe the College in time for 2024?

It is very clear the only reason you are only in favor of this system is because Trump won.
Just try to imagine how you would feel if crooked hillary was sitting in the white house despite more people voting for Trump.
None of you people would have let that slide. You would be shouting for recounts and investigations into every ballot in every state.
Adding it to the list of corruption that follows in Hillary's wake.

If only I could visit that universe. I could bring back a photo of a fedora wearing neckbeard screaming at the sky on inauguration day.
And then immediately leave because holy shit Hillary is awful.

Rural states deserve a say in their affairs. They are semi sovereign, as per the constitution.

Tbh, I think we've gone the wrong way in the US. State rights should supercede federal, unless te result is unconstitutional. Same with county or local. If the fed wants to legalize pot, let them; if a state wants to legalize, they should; and if a city wants it to be illegal, that should be okay. In all cases except constitutional rights, this should be the norm.

Yes, it was supposed to be like that originally, when the numbers of Americans living in rural vs urban areas were roughly similar. However, the ongoing trend for the last century has been Americans moving out of rural areas with no opportunities or resources and into urban ones. Especially with young people who are educated. So now you’ve got an entire government that values the opinions of a few old disconnected fart bags in the middle of nowhere instead of the overwhelming majority of its citizens. And the way the Republican Party does things, it doesn’t even value them. It just uses them for votes and treats them like shit all the same,
