Playing it on dolphin on android with a DS4. Maybe that's affecting it. The controls are ok I'm just surprised how shitty the hit detection is. You couldn't shoot bosses with no reaction in the earlier games.
The tank controls were great, you could be super precise with them with practice. And it forced the games to not be pointless shootemups.

Aw yeah, it was my first game for the PS3. Played it non-stop until got to the two el gigantes. Didn't get a memory card until a few days later, so I just quit there. Later playing on the hardest setting, I try to conserve as much ammo as possible, end up knife killing the second one.
Games are a product of their time, you are just nostalgic about the 3 first games, I didnt play them when I was a child, so for me they seem like utter dogshit, literally no redeemable qualities.
Its like playing final fantasy 1 now, no one gives a shit.
Dolphin emulates it pretty well. It's not like the game is running weird, the programming is just lazy, bullets can go right into an enemy with no reaction, which is bad when the game has devolved into just shooting npcs endlessly. Besides that, there just aren't many redeeming qualities to this game.

I dunno what to tell you - to each their own. playing RE4 today is like playing a literal 20 year old game (dev started 2000/2001), stuff has aged, and many games too the formula and ran with it (the last of us).

I played RE4 on release and played RE1-3 prior. It's a great game and went a different direction to the previous games allowing it to not be so congested and more open. It also wasn't a graphics clusterfuck like the others.
Just because it was different doesn't mean it's shit. Silent Hill : The Room was different. Was it worse than the others? Fuck no.
And Those RE games you listed are dog shit now which is why they needed a remake. If they stood the test of time, they wouldn't remake them. I seriously doubt an RE4 remake is on the way.
