s := shoes; m := man; t := Thing
s+s+s = 3 * s = 30 follows s = 30 / 3 = 10.
m+m+s = 2*m + 10 = 20 follows m = 10/2 = 5
t+t+m = 2*t + 5 = 13 follows t = 8/2 = 4
Conventionally we say * before +, so
s+m*t = s+(m*t) = 10 + (5*4) = 10 + (20) = 30.
