It's a show that is genuinely clever and well put together. You can rewatch an episode 10 times and notice something different each time, a throwaway line that on closer inspection has hidden meaning, references another episode or is an obscure reference. At the same time, its mindless entertainment that doesn't require much thought to be enjoyable. If you're someone who likes to get invested in the show you'll appreciate it a lot, but if you're not then you'll still find it enjoyable.
All of this made it perfect for THOSE people who get waaay to into stuff and claim that if you're not getting the tiny references you're somehow not enjoying it right. After the McDonalds sauce meme, it kind of ruined any fun discussion I'd ever have about the show.

Dude if this show and lsd has taught me anything is fuck everything else. If you like something, like it because you do. I still rewatch seasons 1-4 all the time because I just love the show just like I do futurama.
The more you stop caring about what other people think the better off you will be.
I mean why continue to let yourself feel bad about what other people think when they probably do just as much fucked up or dumb shit you do?
I think that's what made some of the fans so annoying.
Bojack's message is that feeling bad about being a smart asshole isn't enough, you have to actually change and put effort into not upsetting the people that care about you. If you don't, they'll leave you and you'll hurt people which has big consequences.
Rick and Morty gives off the message that as long as you feel bad about being a smart asshole then it's okay to be one.
