When this shit was kicking off shortly before lockdown they increased opening hours. Were telling staff they won't get sick pay if they have to isolate. Only if they can prove they got the virus etc. Also if the store does close they (which it wont despite 90% of customers coming in for paint and garden stuff) they wont apply for the government grant to pay us 80% of our wages as its too much hassle. The DIY and Gardening sections are taking in an insane amount of money. The most since I started working there. The store is empty other than those 2 areas. We were logging all non-essential purchases for some reason but got told to stop. I presume because its just a written record that the overwhelming majority of the people in the shop are there to buy shit they shouldn't be
They KNOW they shouldn't be out too, as they make a bunch of excuses when they get to the till
