Saying emotions are bad is simplistic. They aren't bad. If you want to get into game theory, emotions are the reasons we form societies which increase our survivability. See something big? Get scared, run away from it. Did an animal just steal your food? Get angry. The adrenaline increases your speed and strength temporarily, you'll beat the shit out if that thing and have more food because of it.
Our focus is no longer survival. It's to do something with our lives, yet our emotional instincts aren't adept for our modern society. There's a lot to talk about with this topic. My opinion is that emotions are no longer necessary and I'd love to discuss more with you if you're interested.
