People on Reddit hate landlords for the same reason that people hate their teachers, hate the police, etc.. because the average Reddit user is a petulant child who is only a year or two removed from being forced by their parents to clean their room and go to class. They haven't yet had to be a real adult so they are still in a state of envy/fear when faced by a successful adult human
