Explain black holes to me

imagine compressing a ball of matter into a really really tiny size - the ball of matter still has the same amount of mass / still weighs the same, the only difference is that the physical size is smaller. Now if you keep compressing that matter eventually you get a 'singularity' in which the matter is so small that everything is in the same place, all the pieces of matter are the same - however it keeps the same amount of mass. Because of this the universe is like wtf no dude, and you end up with an event horizon - which basically acts as a barrier between the singularity and the rest of the universe, but once you decide to go through the event horizon you can never return.

The thing about black holes is that they're basically just a star, only much smaller. If our sun magically turned into a black hole, we wouldn't feel anything different (apart from the lack of light).

A normal star like the sun but it's so thicc that the gravity is too great for anything to escape its surface. it's not really a hole at all. just a thicc af star. it's interesting to scientists because it does weird things with gravity. their existence wasn't a proven fact until recently too so scientists are hard as fuck over it

Mass has gravity.
The more mass you pile up in one place (area really) the greater the attractive force that body exerts on other celestial bodies.
Two bodies, moved by gravity, must eventually come together unless/until another force intervenes.

As more bodies come together in this fashion, the mass of the body increases. Eventually, the mass, and hence gravity, become so overwhelming that not even light can escape the gravitational field of this (now dark) body. Hence the name, "black hole". A more proper name is "gravitational singularity". According to current theory, "the Big Bang" was originally a singularity possessing all energy/mass in the universe. It "exploded" and spread mass and energy through the universe... but eventually it must all come back together into a new super-singularity containing everything.
And presumably, the process will repeat after that.
How'd I do?

Ignore every response in this thread. They are all morons who will believe anything they are told so long as it falls under the umbrella of what is the equivalent of modern-day religion called "science".

1. Scientists are simply curious people.

2. Scientists throughout history are far more often wrong than right. In fact, 99.92% of what was widely accepted amongst "scientists" as "science" has been proven to be wrong, albeit over time. This never seems to stop imbeciles from believing that if one of these curious people called "scientists" or even a collection of them, or all of them say that something is scientifically proven, that they must be right. Time proves they are mere speculators operating off of what they (think they) know at that time and then SPECULATING from there. That's actually how "science" works in the end from an overly simplistic view, if it does at all.

3. Science has perpetuated "black holes" as being an astological fact. This, like most of "science" is 100% false. "Black holes" are merely a theory. Again, it is mere speculation, and indeed the speculation as to the existence of black holes is based on so many inferences and (non-scientific; i.e., that which is actually outside of the scientific method itself as is routinely departed from in the past 20 years or so) is less sound a theory than dinosaurs having roamed the Earth on their own without the existence (yet) of man. Dinosaur bones tell you only that such a creature existed, but the inferences that man did not exist at the same time simply because we have (yet) to find any more bones of man from that period in the tiny sliver of the surface of the Earth we have scrapped in small volumes, tells us nothing. Further, the existence of dinosaur bones does not tell us anything about a giant meteor wiping out the Earth back then, or anything else, yet small-minded sheep will tell you that a meteor wiped out the planet long ago and killed off the dinosaurs which caused man to take over.

Lots and lots of mass compressed into a small space. Imagine Earth getting squished into a ball the size of a marble.

That thing creates more gravity, so much that nothing can escape.

this every other retard in this thread acting like they know something about black holes sounds like a pretentious cunt
this user is the only one with a brain and an actual intelligent response

agree with you
the only thing dumber than op's question with a premise that they exist is the dumbfucks in this thread acting like they know something cuz some idiot told them this while they sat in a class or read it from a book they paid for to make that idiot money selling his theories

>cant into dimensions brainlet

100% agreed. In fact the latest theories are that black holes don't even exist. More and more bits of evidence strongly suggest that this theory is yet another piece of science that has been debunked.

That, and bullshit like global warming, which was nothing more than a propaganda campaign that originated and was funded by Al Gore and his co-conspirators to lobbby Congress and various states to implement solar panel quota requirements (which Al Gore and Co. owned 90% of that entire industry through the companies he owned via patents 20 years ago) is all bullshit and it is now more and more proving to be 100% bullshit.
