I recommend you have your coms in order. You can get a decent radio cheap. Baofeng UV-82HP. 8 watts, works on 2 meters, 70cm, and also works on a lot of frequencies you're technically not allowed to use. (in an emergency, you're allowed to transmit on any frequency). They're like $64 on Amazon.
