Gender dysmorphia is a mental illness and switching out your loins does nothing to help you.
Tell him you care about him, if you do, and tell him that is why you're so upset, if it's true, and then try to teach him a bit about the condition he has. Also, you need to speak to your mother about this asap. Mentally labile people can act out in all manner of ways - make sure you have an out as a family if he won't be helped.
