A prime example of this is cellphones. Not too long ago, we had smart phones running iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows OS. They competed and 2 failed. They're gone now because they did not successfully innovate. The remaining are successful because they are constantly improving the devices and the software to stay competitive. The companies and their investors make money, the consumers get better products, and the economy benefits.
Under socialism, innovation falls away. With no competition, there is no need to improve.

They all wouldn't want to start a successful company if it meant having to pay for everyone else.
But wait... there is a huge side note. America is already socialist. If one of the BIG corporations fail, all the little guys are forced to bail them out. If the big banks fail, they're too big to fail. And we bail them out. Same with the auto industry, housing market, or even Trump's properties.
