Because I'm speaking in generalities. Men as a group. Like, sure, there are some men who can totally cope. But by and large, they can't. Using yourself as a single anecdote doesn't mean much to the larger scheme of things.
If a male character appeases all men, and a female character only appeases some men, then you will make less money. This is fine if you're an actual artist with vision. But not if you're Rockstar, seeking mass appeal.

Yeah, it works in a campy way. Like Charlies Angels.(Well the original Charlies Angels anyway. No one saw the new movie, even though all the girls are hot, so LOL to that) You can't have like a real drama, and then the female character is out in the streets cold clocking dudes, and evading the police. It's a silly image that works for Saints Row: A silly game.
