Well, hello OP, I´m a fucking expert in d&d 3.5, I played it a lot as a players (I liked rogue and thief) and also made a 2 years campain as a Master in Cormyr. How is your game bro?

Okay then yeah you want to go artificer. They make items. Potions. Traps.
They usually have a multitude of skills in a role-playing sense they're normally highly respected in town or feared because their magic doesn't come from a god or demon like other spell casters and playing a warforge would be best. They do need rest but they don't sleep so you can watch over the group and make items as they sleep or even heal them. I'd suggest buying a pet.
artificers can become the mother of the group. I once played a character who couldn't own anything and he was forbidden to kill. He also had to sleep facing north or he would lose his magic for the day and anything I earned I had to give it away to none player characters but I was allowed to trade if the trade wasn't in my favor.
All I did was buff the part and heal them.
Sometimes I'd hold the monsters in place or blind them.

Obviously you never went to college. At my relatively small college there were about 5 ttg groups, all of which were entirely made of normies who thought being a nerd was cool due to stranger things or whatever tv bullshit was playing 5 years ago. Even then, my dorm building hosted come and go sessions of various RPGs and it was always the blue and red haired girls and totally obnoxious faggots there. I could never get along with any of them since they just totally ruined the game for me. Always wanting their characters to be super special, attention whoring, and generally being shitty players.
