I have an extremely busy schedule and wasnt able to spend as much time with her as I wouldve liked. We also had a lot of political disagreements, which started out civil, but got nastier the closer we got to the election. In a perfect world I would marry her, but it is what it is. I dont regret anything.

I'm really not. Been with the same ugly girl for 3 years. She cooks and cleans for me and I am very happy. She always takes my side on politics/ world issues and is happy being subservient.

Looking at three generations of my family and those of my friends and colleagues it looks like practicing Catholics are the only ones with stable long-term relationships.

She was incredibly liberal, schoolteacher (wonder why lmao), I am incredibly conservative, med student. You can probably imagine the difference in the amount of free time we had and why politics became an issue.
Neither of us cared at first, both thought we could sway the other to our point of view, but the bickering was fucking constant and eventually really boiled over. She was pro-Hillary and is currently pro-Biden. She tried to convince me with CNN tier propaganda, which I read through to humor her but obviously saw through, and the more I tried to show her what a corrupt mess the dems are, the more defensive and bitchy she would get. It was just a nasty back and forth instead of the more civil discussions we initially had. Eventually I realized she was really just voting against Trump and not for Hillary, which pissed me off, as I found that illogical and unlike her to do. Every discussion became political.
This + my schedule made me talk to her less and less, finally she broke it off. I was kind of relieved and had been considering doing the same. Not much else to tell. It was fun while it lasted.

I should also mention, her politics were a core part of her personality, Obama bumper stickers and all. Im an open-minded person and looked past that, and actually admired her conviction at first, but it became clear she was just voting for whoever the long-nosed TV man told her to vote for, which made me lose a lot of respect for her and her beliefs. I was kind of an asshole in my own way after this, too.
That is how it ended, though. The relationship up until our politics came to a head was really quite nice. Our personalities clicked very well and she was a real joy to be around. I had so many new experiences with her that I will never forget. Really was the happiest time of my life. Still, glad it ended. Wasnt meant to be. Hope this gives younger bots a healthier perspective on relationships.

You haven't mentioned literally one good thing about this women. Sounds like she was just super hot so you put up with all her other shit for longer than you would. With friends like these you have to find a convictions and principles that you both agree with.

Since they are partisan, they will slowly find out that they have no consistent principles to live by. they will see that your principles don't waver. then they'll come over to your side.... but you must resist telling them that you are a libertarian
