I think it is because they thought they wanted to but then getting into it they realised they shouldnt have made what they thought was fun a chore. That and it is alot more emotionally and physically taxing to do it on a professional level. Then there is rhe whole adpect of "Anyone can cook an good meal but not everyone can cook a great one".

I'm studying cybersecurity and my dream job is the same. Become a hacker for our nation's version of the CIA. Turns out they recruit at my school so it is completely possible. Wish me luck anons.

You don't want to. They're horribly corrupt and are quite literally enforcers for the corporations. Most of what they do nowadays is planting evidence to incriminate people to justify next year's budget.
