I think it is because they thought they wanted to but then getting into it they realised they shouldnt have made what they thought was fun a chore. That and it is alot more emotionally and physically taxing to do it on a professional level. Then there is rhe whole adpect of "Anyone can cook an good meal but not everyone can cook a great one".

I'm studying cybersecurity and my dream job is the same. Become a hacker for our nation's version of the CIA. Turns out they recruit at my school so it is completely possible. Wish me luck anons.

I don't know. I still don't know after over 23 years on this planet and changing my mind repeatedly. All that I've done is make a giant mental list of "not again/never ever". Something that pays reasonably well, makes me feel useful, and is relaxed/comfy.
