Laypeople fundamentally misunderstand what BPD is.
People who've had interactions with BPD people, such as being in a relationship with someone that has BPD, will likely not have the knowledge in psychology to understand the behavior of their partner and will assume it's due to some kind of malice, when really BPD is just a bunch of different diagnosis that feed into each other and make up the personality disorder we know as BPD.
People with BPD aren't malicious by default, but they do have a higher risk of becoming malicious due to their disorder.
In conclusion, empaths should not date BPD people.
