Computer gets hacked

>computer gets hacked
>gets lots of emails from places I have accounts from about logins
This is the worst thing that could happen to someone like me. I guess this is how getting raped feels like

That's what you get for using the same password for every account

Happened to me a while back but it was all just video game related shit I couldn't give a fuck about. Changed important passwords and let them do as they please with my old accounts.

How did your computer get hacked? I think it's time for a new email desu. I get some spoof emails when my email was hacked and it gives me really bad anxiety and will ruin my whole day.
I'd say go through your emails and check what accounts you have registered. Write it down and either choose to close it down or change the email address of those accounts. Nothing will change how you feel unless you write down a plan of action but I really do know how you are feeling

Almost all of them uses different passwords. Other than the sites that forces you to sign up for some reason.
I guess the main reason for the hijacking was my steam stuff. Steam guard saved my ass
It was either from Adobe flash or zoom (I guess). Found my pc doing stuff really fast by itself (checking steam inventory, store pages, file and task manager open in the background) I don't remember the most details because I was panicking. I force closed the pc the moment I came to senses.
But I failed. I was so panicked I just closed the screen and he did whatever he wanted. I shut down the router and wake up the pc to see steam, Firefox and task manager left open. With lots of processes about Remote control and CTF (I guess?)
I changed everything I could think about and gotten emails about unusual logins.
The problem is my family had important images in that pc and /g/ isn't sure about how can I get them back without risks.
I'll probably listen to them and use Linux

Dont you have any anti virus/malware?

I use Malwarebytes but it couldn't find anything

You should ask on what to do on a tech related forum honestly. It sucks it happens but you can solve it

Got any recommendations? /g/ made me think that there's nothing I could do other than reinstalling and Reddit didn't cared

I was thinking reddit too but I dont know how long it takes for a thread (whatever they call it) to get good responses. Maybe wait a bit for it to get replies. Linus tech tips forums?

I forgot to add that you may have to take the computer into a store to get rid of whatever is infecting your computer. I think the account stuff can only be solved if you make a new email and change the email addresses of those accounts yourself

Getting a decent thread is solely depends on luck, I got like 6 replies but it died instantly.
I'll post on linus's forum, thanks
The store is just going to wipe everything and reinstall Windows, which is something I can do at home too. I need to keep some data sadly.
Also changing passwords of everything. Thanks.

Why do you need the data? Surely you can boot up in safe mode and just transfer everything you need to USB.

Furthermore, why do you suspect that you had been hacked and taken over on your system? Only that could occur if you allowed remote desktop access.

>It here
Op, do you have dashlane or any other password manager?

That's where I would start.

Work/family stuff. I let my family use it as a backup pc for photos.
>transferring to USB
Isn't it dangerous? Won't it infect the USB too?
/g/ told me to create a live Linux usb then boot from it and copy but they weren't so sure about it would prevent the malware from spreading
>why do you subject
Aside from things happening in my accounts got stolen.
I never did anything about remote access on the pc. I think they unlocked it themselves after getting in. I checked the services and things about remote access had login credentials insterted that doesn't belongs to me.
No, sadly.

>Ireland
Imagine getting hacked by a fucking MICK
Having a big laugh at your expense

lower your digital imprint. im cutting back all my shit so i dont have to worry about stuff like this. we only need 1 email address.

im scared, can i get hacked if i dont download and run any weird stuff, have adblocker, dont visit weird sites, use malware bytes plus windows antivirus and dont have admin on the active account? i also have different passwords for everything plus authentication and passwords on security questions

Would you prefer this?
I think I need three. Work, personal and websites.
But how using only one email is gonna help you protect yourself?

did this just randomly happen? did you download anything prior?

>Laptop kiddie made a fucky wackie
Lmao
Also you got lucky with steam, since steam guard codes are seeded from your ID64 he probably messed up the decryption

>Got any recommendations? /g/ made me think that there's nothing I could do other than reinstalling and Reddit didn't cared
There IS nothing you can do other than reinstalling Windows.

>Can i get hacked if i employ common sense
Not from open net attacks. If someone decides to fuck you over specifically, and has some information on you, then good luck, but otherwise you're good

Or this. Call me Mr.worldwide now.
I did everything you mentioned other than the admin account. Still got fucked up.
All my downloads for the past year is Firefox, zoom, adobe flash and PDFs that my professor shared
I got really lucky man

Damn. Life is harsh.
I rarely interact with people outside here but still managed to get hijacked lol

Change your passwords and do a factory reset. Also next time use a more rigid antivirus than malwarebytes.

Russians are known for hacking, the Irish are known for starving on an island surrounded by fish

Tech support offered me to get Kaspersky. Should I?
I'll reset everything the moment I get my data safely. Already ordered an external hdd

The paid version of Kapersky is generally very good (top antivirus changes from year to year). I used to always use Avast but they've dropped as of late - but that was always solid. Also Windows Defender is really good now, to the point that's actually what the IT security teams at work have opted for across the 4000+ person org.

I had defender on too but it didn't helped other than getting rid of a trolling virus.
I'll get Kaspersky then. Thank you.

you could still get raped, you know.
you've got an ass and a mouth.
