I've had a sleep disorder from as far back as i can remember. it take me 4-5 hours to fall asleep, if at all. I've tried polyphasic like uberman and it seems like just a meme, impossible to pull off without being a mess.
Currently i sleep every other day with a 3-4 hour nap on the nights i don't sleep. seems to be working but time will tell. being at home full time is a great opportunity to experiment with sleep routines.
Do more cardio Wake up every day at 4am Cut out blue light an hour before dark No caffeine Look up Dr Matthew walker follow his sleep advice Check with your doctor about medications if you’re taking any

take the /nosleep/ pill user

Hold your breath until you fall asleep. I try to think of anxiety inducing scenarios, and then I realize that I cannot feel pain nor disappointment in my slumber, so I have a panic induced dreamless sleep.

Cardio or lifting will help overtime Stop taking naps, when they treat insomnia they make people stop taking naps it’s called sleep restriction Try melotonin or L theanine, it might help but idk sometimes it helps me sometimes it doesn’t

i've tried all of that, i'll check out walker. take zero meds. i believe i suffer from 24 hour wake-sleep disorder, seems no matter what i do my internal clock keeps rotating around a few hours further each day. i can sleep just fine if i follow my internal clock and sleep rotating around the clock pushing a few hour wake time each day. If it wasn't for normal scedues i have to stick to, i wouldn't have a sleeping problem, i'd just have a continuing rotating sleep schedule
yes, i exercise daily. true about restricting sleep, why i'm currently trying the sleep every other day routine. I sleep like a baby every other day for 10 hours. the nights i don't sleep i take 3 to 4 hour nap if i'm tired

I had this problem for my entire life when I lived with my parents. My room was in the basement. I was able to wake up with alarms but I feel like death every morning after getting 3-5 hours of sleep at most. When I finally moved out, I had a huge window next to my bed and the sun woke me up every morning. After a few weeks of this, my body adjusted to the sunlight schedule and was actually tired at night and I started sleeping a lot better.
After 7-8 years, I moved back in with my parents for about two years because I took a really good job a couple miles from their house. I feel into the same problem. After that, I moved to Florida and have an even bigger window with more sunlight gracing me in the morning and now I get the best sleep of my entire life.
It’s anecdotal and might not even be remotely related to your situation it I thought I’d share in case you are a cave dweller like I was.

don’t take a nap at all even if you haven’t slept
Brody Smith
i take that 'nap' from 3am-6am, maybe I shouldn't call it a nap. no sleep during the day
Elijah Stewart
did you try going back in time and not smoking all that meth?
Nathaniel Adams
drink D3 vitamin, helps me a lot with being sleepier at the right times possible meme advice: no electronics 1 hour before bed (cant do this, i gotta browse/read like a coomer has to coom)

>as far back as i can remember You know what OP? I would visit a psychologist. There must be a starting point of this issue you might wanna check.
I usually only sleep about 6 hours a night, then have a big sleep in saturday morning. However, if I have a couple of nights in a row like the one you describe I will stay awake all night. The next day I will be tired for a few hours in the morning, be a RAGE filled arsehole in the afternoon, then go to bed about 7pm and have an awesome sleep all night.
Matthew walker is legit, I've been reading this and it's life changing.... I knew sleep was important but I had no idea how crucial was it for being a functional human being
Exercising late can prevent you even more from falling asleep. Don't know if it's your case.

Is it bad to take 2mg of melatonin everyday?
Should I tamper use like caffeine to keep the benefits?

>had a real vivid dream last night >woke up confused and disoriented >got my shit together and went back to bed >immediately had a vivid nightmare >woke up disoriented and scared >couldn't go back to sleep Why do I turn into a bumbling retard when I have really vivid dreams?
Jaxson Gonzalez
>seems no matter what i do my internal clock keeps rotating around a few hours further each day. Same thing here. Whenever i fix my sleeping routine and i wake up at around 7 by my self without an alarm, i start to not get tired at night and can't fall asleep. Its like get tired at around 11 go to bed wake up at around 7 and after 2-3 days get tired at around 12-01 wake up at around 8-9 and it just keeps going like that until i got to bed at 6-7 in the morning and wake up at 2-3 in the day.

I used to have real problems sleeping and for me it's all about being able to relax in the enivornment i'm in unless i'm knock out exhausted. if i'm worrying about stuff like if i'm gonna be woken up etc. i 100% won't sleep, gotta make sure your bedroom is nice and quiet, turn electronics off 1-2 hours before you sleep and find what works best for you. I personally read and fall asleep with my light still on 99% of the time unless I gotta be up really early for work/went out drinking and I don't change it because it works

I've done therapy. was good for some things but ultimately i could never find a good enough therapist in my opinion and that shit cost me a lot of money, the price always bothered the shit out of me. some good came out of it though over all, for sure.
Interestingly my Mom and relatives said that I never slept as an infant regularly, like my siblings or cousins, that I was doomed from the very beginning

been sleeping in 4.5 hour periods 2 times a day. breakfast, workout, shake (not necessarily in that order), work sleep 4 hours to 4.5 hours after work is done (4:30), ride stationary bike around 1030 pm, dinner, watch tv, walk the dog while streets are empty, go back to sleep for 4.5 hours around 2 am

Doesn't always help. I'm the guy who made this thread a couple weeks ago desuarchive.org/fit/thread/55175600 I've spent hours out in the bush splitting wood, finished off with a home cooked meal, and had a shitty 5 hour sleep afterwards

Maybe you just have a different sleep cycle then the standard one? Have you ever tested that?
Noah Baker
if your sleep is that bad you need to see a doctor moron

so you sleep from 4ish to 8pmish? and then 2am to 6am? interesting, apparently people slept in shifts like this before we had electricity. they'd be out snoozin' when the sun went down, wake up for a few hours middle of the night and do shit, then back to bed until sunrise. I feel like four hours is enough to get some deep sleep cycles in, if you did it twice it's perfect. my goal is something like your routine, i'm aiming to eventually sleep in two 4 hour blocks between 4pm and 7am. that way it gives me a large window to knock out my two shifts, instead of laying in bed at 10pm and being pissed off for 5-7 hours because i can't fall asleep, thus dreading the next day
