56 minutes
22min, working on sub 20 and a marathon next year. Love doing it.
Reminder
1/2/3/4 running equivalent:

Good to know that deadlifting is as useless as running a marathon

How do I get over the mental urge to give up? I'm always finding the spot on the track or time/distance on the treadmill where I'll take my next walk break. Occasionally I get really sore/winded and I almost give up but don't, and in those moments where I defy the urge I feel powerful, like "now the exercise has started". But it's so rare for me to have those moments even though I've been trying to run consistently a handful of times a week.
People who run longer distances, how do you manage this?
Seattle is such a shithole
Recognize that the mental urge is nothing but fear of getting a little exhausted. Then stand up to that fear because it's nothing more than an abstract concept holding you back
My runs always start with some (mental) discomfort, that's just part of the game. Most people settle in after a while and after that all is well. Not talking about a runner's high or anything. Just merely getting into the mindset that you're doing a run. My daily runs are around 9-10k and for me it happens after 2-3km. I also run in the morning on an empty stomach, so part of it is just me waking up.
>10k time is double 5k time
Now I know you're retarded
19/40/1:30/3:20
5k/10k/Half/Marathon
Fixed
Anybody else been running with a mask and glaring at fags who don't so shit for COVID? I dont actually think it does anything, I just like shaming people who are outside and dare to distract me on my run
>masks
lel, unless you are infected it wont do shit.
run into oncoming traffic you bootlicker
>favourite lift: deadlift
>favourite distance: marathon
uhmmm
Comfortable pace around 30 minutes
28 if I fucking kill myself
I'm a fat shit but I do enjoy an easy jog, idgaf about getting fast really
i keep running, done for 1 year or so, but my feet always get tired first. i run on asphalt and concrete i use thin shoes because BORN TO RUN book told me that thick soles r bad
>it's raining today for the first time in 2 weeks
Really not in the mood for shit weather anymore.
Show me a 50 year old runner without fucked up knees and maybe I'll start. I occasionally do sprints, but running long distances is a pretty shit form of cardio desu
um, most of them? Have you seen marathons? Theyre full of boomers, including some actual term accurate ones.
Nothing wrong with that. Just keep doing what you like (provided you have good form).
>thick soles r bad
That's bullshit. Max cushioning low drop is the best general solution. See all the pros who use hokas or the thick stuff by adidas and nike. Asics doesn't even have any truly thin shoes, except for there actual flats afaik.
You best use a mix. Comfy stuff for long runs. thin/barefoot style shoes for shorter, slower, regeneration runs and to strengthen your feet and hard flats for races.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you cant just post sources that will wipe out my troll posts about running
I run once every week long distance going for +1 km.
Currently at 100 minutes / 17km. Nonstop.
If my goal is 5km it's 22km but I barely go that low on distance.
22min*
Wahy are you even bothering?
Yas Forums is all bout deadlifts and benchpress and everything else is useless.
Guys can't run even if their life depended on it. They can't even do sets of 50 reps (which is quite relevant in quarantine) with low weight because they really don't lift for physical. It's just strength, getting bigger and sacrificing health while unironically calling it Yas Forumsness.
desu senpai
You need to run a lot more, but shorter distances. It's better to run 4km every day for 5 days, than 20km in one day.
Cardio is fine, but there are much better forms than running.
Not him, but there's a sizeable runner community here. There's even a strava group. I like helping people out who want to run. It's a great activity that a lot of people can enjoy provided they're smart about it.
Someone else got together this pasta and I just saved it and keep spamming it in the cardio threads I lurk.
In general it's not so bad overall anymore. Ever since spring started the cardio threads got less and less troll posts (even less since the wu flu). I mean these threads are mostly beginner questions over and over again, but there are some legit fast guys around here.
Its just an urge. There is no point where your legs will literally give out. Runners don't just collapse when running a race unless they pass out but you're probably not running far enough for that to even happen.
