What is /fast/?
>A discussion of intermittent fasting, snake juice fasting, water fasting, and dry fasting.

What’s the difference between intermittent fasting, snake juice fasting, water fasting, dry fasting, etc?
>Intermittent fasting: fasting daily with a short eating window. 16:8 (16 hour fast, 8 hour eating window) is the minimum.
>snake juice fasting: fasting with water mixed with electrolytes
>Water fasting: Fasting with only water.
>Dry fasting: Fasting with no water. Dangerous, use with caution.

Why should I fast?
>ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3946160/
>ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11147801
>idmprogram.com/difference-calorie-restriction-fasting-fasting-27/

How do I safely do an extended fast?
>Take snake juice, or supplement electrolytes.
>Water=2L
>Potassium chloride =1 to 1.5 tsp (No Salt)
>Sodium chloride = 1 to 1.5 tsp (Himalayan Pink Salt/table salt)
>Optional: Sodium Bicarbonate = 1 tsp (Baking Soda), recommended for longer fasts or breaking dry fasts.
>Optional: Magnesium - DO NOT use Epsom, it is a laxative, a 300mg citrate or glycinate supplement is best, or DIY Mag Bicarb (see discord sticky)
>Mix and sip throughout the day, don't drink all at once. You'll shit yourself.
>Also optional: drink some apple cider vinegar and lemon juice, 1 or 2 tsp in the snake juice, or separate. Use a straw.

Won’t I go into starvation mode?
>No. The mainstream definition of starvation mode is a myth.

Will (something with calories) break my fast?
>Yes.

Can I drink coffee, tea?
> Yes, if you are a sensitive individual too much caffiene can raise cortisol too much, YMMV.

Can I have diet soda? Or anything with artificial sweeteners?
>You can do whatever you want. We recommend avoiding those, because they may increase insulin secretion.

Do I need a multivitamin?
>No (for a prolonged fast exceeding 1 week, nutritional yeast or a B-Complex is suggested)

Is nicotine gum a good way to suppress hunger during a fast?

its fine, but quitting is probably better for you, if you are fasting frequently and not refeeding with carbs, the hunger will be greatly reduced.

Pretty sure nicotine gum has calories, patches or vaporiser's probably better

what about snus?

Don't know about snus, you'd probably get a very low amount of calories (under 1), shouldn't be any worse than tea though. Should probably stay away from anything with sweeteners though as they'll have the same effect as a diet soda

Instead of OMAD I am doing OMETD: One meal every two days

Has anyone tried it? Or would I be just better off doing longer fasts and feeding for a few days? This is definitely a lot more comfortable. I keep it keto and test my piss regularly.

48s is a good routine for solid weightloss

Great. A 2000 calorie ribeye every two days is literally my ideal anyway

>2000 cal ribeye

wat

it's best for the self discpline to follow any sort of routine. If you're fat tho id say just fast to the bone.

How do I stop night bingeing

Not fat just want to get more lean

Maintain mindfulness. Wesr something, or put something on your fridge to remind you of what you're doing and why. I have a very similar issues especially since I work late nights. It's not fool proof but it at least helps. God speed brother.

water
then 48's it is. godspeed

I had a 24 oz that was 1860. Pretty close.

Hello experts

Will I break my fast if:
- I have a cold and swallow my own snot after snorting?
- I chew gum
- I drink coffee

Thanks

Hevlo brothers. I am having trouble getting all of my calories in in a meal. Even with a 24h fast I feel full too quick. If I could just not eat ever that would be good. Any advice?

I know people here don't like artificial sweeteners and say they break fasts and spike insulin, but I've been closely monitoring both my blood glucose levels and my ketone levels and neither of them seem to be effected so far. Is this probably just due to me being a diabetic who doesn't produce any insulin?

My results on IF are great though, I'm confident I'm not fucking it up. Right about at 72 hours now.

do you gain muscle slower while on omad?

After a year of fucking up and eating every day (with the intention of fasting but lacking willpower/stomach aches /boredom etc), the last few months i've been getting my head back together and for some reason I was experimenting with how many calories i could get away withh to lose weight.

Finally pullled off a 3 day fast and hunger has not been an issue, cravings are like a thing of the past, i just... I dont know, the way i lost the weight in 2018 was doing 5-10 day fasts constantly, typically 6 days. However, when I visualize doing 6 day fasts in my head, it's like a mountain. When that used to be my norm.

I am probably making it harder for myself by thinking that reaching the 6th day is a huge difficulty, anyone got advice on this?
Clearly, not thinking about fasting, food, weight loss etc is a good way to not break a fast, but i guess im a bit fucked up. I'm not struggling on the 1st day of a fast anymore, i even forget that i'm fasting in the first place and i have to remember how long i've been fasting.
I dunno what im saying really, I just need to undo this obesity i gained in a fuckin year.

is it true you live 50% if you eat 50% less?

keto refeeds

on day 5 of a 7 day fast. went from about 238 to 234, im really fat so shouldn't i be losing more theoretically? thanks. drinking snake juice as well.

You should lose more than that in one day as you burn through your glycogen.
Are you eating in your sleep? Or consuming '0' calorie items?

If you are doing intermittent fasting that is a really good pace and you should just if all the time, no reason to stop after a week

no, im literally only drinking snake juice. no diet coke, no anything. i might extend my 7 day fast, but yeah its really weird ive only lost 4 pounds right?

im taking 1 a day vitamin and magnesium pills and biotin for my hair. im also drinking a shot or two of apple cider vinegar every day

I have been given a great opportunity
>Be fat fuck in January
>Lose 11kg by the end of march
>Get constant bitching from the family of course
>April going a bit slow, not really making any progress
>Go to doctor with an old blood test that said I have terrible insulin resistence
>Doctor says good work on losing that weight, because "medical science can preach all day, but in the end, results are results"
>Get a new bloodwork still very bad insulin (No wonder, I've been pigging out since Easter)
>Prescribes consuming low GMO stuff for a month, and then to come back for control in the form of another bloodwork
This is my chance. If I fast diligently for the next three weeks, I can prove once and for all for my family that fasting is beneficial.
Wish me luck

I lost 12lbs last week on a 7 day and lost 1lb 4 days into my current 7 day, weight loss can be incomprehensible, I usually just blame water weight and keep on track even if it can be disappointing to not see the numbers you were hoping for

I've been omad for 7 days, maybe eating 800 - 1400 cals. Just shit my pants a little and have been turning my toilet water black all night. Is this normal?

this is what I feel everytime my birthday nears

Each day you should lose between .6 and 1.5 lbs. 3500 Cal's is a lb of fat. If you are sedentary with low muscle mass then maybe it makes sense to only lose that much.

Were you on keto before your fast? Or are you diabetic? Not losing 4 to six lbs right away might be cause to think you have a serious liver problem.
