Haven't seen it for a few years, but there seemed to be a very cavalier attitude towards death from both sides in LOGH. Besides the beginning when that peasant planet gets nuked, none of the higher up characters care that much about death tolls. It's funny how the deaths are barely addressed in-universe but the author drew so many gruesome images of the common soldier with his intestines everywhere.

Reinhard cared but he fell for Obersteins cold utilitarian rationality in the end, Kircheis cared too. Yang also feels guilt. That's why I was a bit annoyed with the rebellion, it felt out of character for him. He could have joined Reinhard as an advisor and tried to make the universe better but he didn't.

The music in this show is absolutely brilliant, I usually find over-use of classical composers in movies/shows a bit pretentious and gay, but its actually used really well thematically in this show (exclusively germanic composers for the empire episodes for example) and some of the battles wouldn't be nearly as hype if it didn't have Dvorak and Mahler blasting max volume as thousands of ships blow each other to hell.
Time to give this a rewatch I think.
