why would anyone do crunches and diet when you can just get ab implants? ab implants look and feel just as good, if not better, than "regular" abs.

Crunches are cheaper

What the actual fuck is this

>literally cannot take a punch anymore
>is susceptible to way more damage than normal if he falls more than 4 feet

Cool. But i'll just get 2 to go from 6 to 8.
Those bottom abs are tough to build

>why would anyone do crunches and diet when you can just get ab implants?
Why would you live when you can just die. Much easier

what happens when the ice melts

>implanting shit ton of foreign substance in your body

Enjoy the cancer

Are abs even that hard to make?

Literally just do some sit ups and have a low body fat.

Whats a good crunch routine for my fat ass

Real money has far more utility than Monopoly money.
Even though Monopoly money is easier to obtain, I’d rather just put in the work and get the real money.
Getting strong isn’t just about looking good, OP.

This is going to age horribly, just you wait.

rectis abdominis hypertrophy has virtually zero real-world use, the only time you use your abs in a practical sense, you're gonna be using the transverse abdominis

What is squatting?

Based

When you punch properly, you use your abs.

t. never thrown a punch
you use your legs and waist

You mean your hips? Also, biomechanically speaking, the core is the link responsible for proper transfer of kinetic energy from lower to upper body.

yes I meant hips. having visible abs doesn't necessarily mean strong abs and strong abs aren't necessarily visible

That looks like shit. Also Abs only look natural with low body fat, this guy is gonna be fat on top and under the implants. People who do this should just kill themselves.

squatting involves an isometric contraction of the transverse to erect the spine
twisting is done by the external obliques

learn some fucking anatomy you retards

This is what Eddie Hall got

Never said that you needed to have visible abs. Quite the contrary. The valsalva maneuver involved in forming that intra-abdominal pressure necessary for powerful movements actually relies much more heavily upon the internal abdominal muscles and quadratus lumborum.
However, the rectus abdominis and external obliques are still important for hip placement, compensating for balance adjustments, and counterforce to the spinal extensors.

Fake abs give none of the strength necessary for translation to such movements. Thus, they’re only as useful as stuffing your wallet with Monopoly money.

Again, valsalva maneuver for internal abdominal activation is far more important than obliques.
The isometric contractions are more than just transverse obliques. The spinal erectors are also countered by the rectus abdominis. Thus, you need comprehensive core strength.

Kek. Free water

while this is true, you have to realize that the RA is a very strong muscle relative to what it's countering, and can make these contractions for a 5pl8 squat while not contracting any harder than it would be for a regular hanging leg raise.

eddie hall tier abs are completely superficial and do nothing practical

Fpbp

I disagree. The spinal erectors are extremely strong muscles as well.
However, I don’t think we’re particularly at odds regarding the topic of how important the stereotypical chiseled 6 pack is.

The rectus abdominis muscles are very important, but yes, they are overemphasized in our culture when it comes to their definition and blocky look.
Personally, I believe the internal abdominal muscles to be the first and foremost most important core muscles. Mainly because they’re responsible for keeping the lumbar spine from being damaged.

My entire point, though, is that the rectus abdominis is still important for complex and powerful movements. Thus, they’re not useless, and they’re certainly not useless enough that having plastic implants is an aedequate replacement.

1. crunch

Also, to address your point regarding the comparison of squats to hanging leg raises, that is a very good point. I like the comparison.
That’s because the rectus abdominis is serving different purposes in the two exercises. In a leg raise, it’s actually the one moving the weight. In a squat, it’s contracted to keep the pelvis properly tilted so the glutes and hamstrings can properly move the weight. It’s also keeping the spine from extending and it’s keeping the individual balanced.
Yes, that doesn’t require a high amount of strength but this still makes a big difference in form.

exactly my point, having reasonable strength in your abs is more than enough to do any sort of practical movement outside of the gym, a blistering six pack is entirely cosmetic. i was arguing against the earlier comparison someone made of OP's fake abs to monopoly money

This is the ideal male body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

That was my post too lol. That comparison is to make the point that wasting money on such cosmetic surgery is pointless.
I would rather have a rectus abdominis muscle with the ability to perform the tasks I need it to. The fake abs are useless. They will not perform the contractions that we have discussed because they are nothing but rubber.

Thus, the comparison to Monopoly money. Looks good, but useless.
However, real money gets me results. Even a dollar can get me food, but the Monopoly money will not get me anything no matter how much I throw at the cashier.

Just as fake abs will not allow me to hold proper form in a heavy squat no matter how much plastic I have inserted into me.
Real abs, defined or not, will get the job done because I trained them for what I want them to do.
