cycling because running you will ultimately hurt yourself and be unable to do it long term, you can pretty much cycle as much as you want.
Also the only thing that matters in weight loss is how much you eat.

If you are of normal weight, running 2x a week won’t hurt you and is good for cardiovascular system. If you are a fatty, start with walking.

I like to cycle, but running does it better for me.
With running I have a hard time keeping my heart rate at 170, but with cycling I can keep it at 130-150ish without much trouble on flats.. and as you get better at riding you find only hills will require any real effort.
