How do you get into running without getting hurt. I have been running for a few weeks now because of the pandemic and it feels like I am constantly getting hurt.
It is never anything major but one day my knee will hurt, or my calf is tight, or something in my foot feels weird.
I stretch, I eat right, I drink plenty of water, I am not overweight, I have running shoes.

how often do you run, how's the intensity
Joshua Howard
Its your body that ia weak. A bit of running will strain those little sensitive part so much that youre already hurt. Yes, thats how weak you are. Rest until it doesnt hurt anymore and then run again, itll take a while. If the pain gets too much go see a doctor.

I found that a warm down was key, I started walking for 15-20 min after each run and never got injured during marathon training.
Jaxson Flores
it takes a bit time to get conditioned to running. You just gotta have to train it up a little by a little. And run as slow as you possible can
Brayden Rivera
Stop heel striking dumbass

Running is a meme activity that is going toconstantly cause injury, no matter how hard you try to avoid it.
Walking at a brisk pace, for a longer amount of time is a much healthier option.
Michael Evans
>Running is a meme activity that is going toconstantly cause injury Yeah, if you run on concrete or asphalt Dirt and grass are fine
Xavier Flores
Warm up prior to starting: begin with a brisk walk, move into an easy pace and do some knee lifting action prior to getting into a serious pace. Make sure to follow proper form while running, landing on the ball of your foot will reduce the shock of impact and try to keep a good posture with eyes trained ahead. Take a nice easy walk after you finish and be sure stretch thoroughly once you walked it off. I usually walk for 10 mins, warm up for 5, cool off for 15 mins but it can depend on how stiff your feeling before and how intense your run was after.

>Running is a meme activity that is going to constantly cause injury We are literally designed to run long distances. Fun fact, there isn't a land animal in existence that could even come close to beating a human in a marathon
And the problem is, instead of running all our lives, we decided that sitting to do work is far far more important. so when we start running again, we actually have to train properly for it, to start using those muscles again.
The trick to getting started again is to not overdo it. optimal stress + optimal recovery = optimal progress
short runs to start. 20 minutes at a time start with running and walking, 1 minute run, 1 minute walk when that doesn't fuck you up anymore, then 2 minutes run, 1 minute walk and so on.
running is high impact. Lots of force hitting feet and legs. let your muscles adapt to the load you are putting on them.
Nicholas Moore
We are definitely designed for running however we are not the best marathon runners out of all the animals

Help me running bros. I run 3-4 times a week, 4-7 miles at a time. 1-2 of the times it's trail running. I'm training for a 10k trail race in September. Obviously I want to do as well as possible. How do I train to increase my speed for a 10k trail race? I have never really taken my running seriously, like I don't know how to train running. Should I keep doing what i'm doing? Add in HIIT?
a peregrine falcon would destroy any human, and it has legs so it is a land animal.

What animal is better over 26.2 miles? Unless maybe some specialized weather? Like maybe a wolf could outrun a naked human in 10F degrees and wind. But humans are incredible at very long distances.
Michael Hernandez
Don’t run for more than two consecutive days. Take an off day between or incorporate cross training
Lucas Thomas
I can run on the balls of my feet fine for sprints, but I find it difficult to maintain for medium-longer distances. Just keep working at it?
Jackson Sullivan

>How do you get into running without getting hurt. You don't. You're new, your body isn't used to that kind of high impact workout and so you feel fucked up. It's just like starting a new weight routine, you're gonna be all kinds of sore until you get used to it. But here's some pro-tips anyways from someone who runs a 40km a week.
Do active stretching before a run, static stretching after. Static stretching actually worsens your performance.
Hydrate 24hrs prior to a run, ala, always stay hydrated. Hydrating during, or just before a run will just bloat you up and you'll cramp up like a bitch.
Breathe and keep a rhythm without hyper ventilating or barely breathing. It sounds obvious but you'd be surprised how many people fuck this up.
Run consistently. Even a slow pace will build performance gradually and help you run at a faster pace. Run up to a fast pace and then slow down gradually until you find a pace your comfortable with and keep that pace more or less. If you find that pace starts to get too easy then bump it up by 30sec or so.
Nathaniel Turner
And I should mention that a lot of people who spout >RuNNiNg IS all AbouT ForM are retards and mostly wrong
Yeah, no shit if you run retarded you'll never progress, but you don't magically become better at running because you switched from heel strike vs ball strike because it doesn't matter
Running form is mostly personal preference and doesn't ultimately make a huge difference unless you're the Olympic sprinter type where any difference in aerodynamics and physics actually matters
Lucas Long
>Running is a meme activity Ok tubby have fun with your heart attack at 30
Parker Stewart
I'd recommend alternating between normal and minimalist shoes and try to run on grass and dirt. But stay patient, don't push too hard too fast, it takes time to get good.
Daniel Myers
fucking hate running, only really do it because it's part of my countries military fitness requirement. Been slacking off lately because of corona chan fucking up the recruitment process. I usually run at night but since it's winter now the nights are too dark. feelsbadman
