How do I get to this level? My farthest run was a half marathon when I did cross country in high school.

Aaron Rogers?

That is a brisk walk like 15 minute miles, and 45lbs in a pack or slung on your back isn’t too bad I’ve done worse back packing

Be really strong

train like them? lmao dumby, do you not have a wooden shield and sword?

modern military does something like that or even more. Train like a soldier, ruck sack trekking or just enlist LMAO

USMC '00 - '05 here.

45lbs? That's nothing. That's *part* of a ruck.

How about weapons, ammo, barrels, etc. Movies and Vidya always forget that ammunition has significant weight.

So.... just distance run as you would normally. You'll be "taught" to hump in basic, don't worry.

Eat lots of garum

20 miles in 5 hours is walking at a pretty average pace user

I walk 15 miles every day carrying 15kgs. I could easily do this.

I am by no means fit.

you don't need to buy some special gear to walk with weight in a fucking backpack. Get a cheap backpack or find one lying around that you dont care about. Put some heavy shit inside it and go for a walk. It's not brain science.

They didn't run, they marched.

15 min miles is a tricky spot. It's between a slow run and fast walk.

We used to just do something called a 'pig shuffle' for fast ruck marches. It looks a lot like running in place but you're moving. Just trying to walk fast feels way worse for some reason.

20 miles with 45lb in 5 hours is fast if you need to do it everyday. If we're talking about 5 hours of walking in a day then it's not bad, but 5 hours without stopping would take a massive toll on your body.

Walking fast usually involves a long stride which often puts a lot of strain on the hips. "Pig shuffle" is basically extremely short stride jogging

If you're long legged you cane easily keep up with a shuffling pace while striding.

This guy gets it. .50 Cal receivers are heavy.

Also, sprinting with a full kit for any amount of time is a good joke.

Correct
Maybe start out from 5 10 20

Source?

This is also a good way to guarantee arthritis down the road

That's not impressive.

That's only five miles an hour which is a light shuffle, with only 45lbs.

Get back to me when you have to do a combat load and 7 miles per hour.

every manual labour job on earth? mechanics have swole forearms from carrying shit and using tools all day. you think they did 3x5 of heavy wrench turns every other day? even these gay little ballerinas have massive calves from super high volume bodyweight movement, not calf raising with 135lbs.
