With the gym probably going to open up sometime this month or next, is it worth still getting a home gym? I'm no expert but say if we do open up and a second wave occurs, I feel that people who are price gouging tf out of weights will lower them in order to sell their products. In that period, I could probably snag at the very least a barbell and two 45 plates for cheaper than what it is now. What does fit think?
OPEN THE GYMS
Try 18 months. As soon as things open up there will be a HUGE wave of death and pandemic and we will be put under actual lockdown
>between .3-1% fatality rate
>overwhelmingly kills the elderly with preexisting conditions and the occasional sick younger person
>huge wave of death
Yeah I'm thinking you're retarded.
>this month or next
oh my sweet summer child. gyms and nightclubs will be the last things to open up again shortly before mass gatherings are allowed again. In 1-2 months you can be happy when schools and bigger stores are open again and you can meet with 5 people without getting into trouble. Nevermind a gym...
>he still doesn't understand why we are in lockdown
Are you black by any chance?
We're in lockdown because the hospitals weren't ready to handle thousands of severely ill geezers clogging it up all at once. The idea of flattening the curve was to give the medical system time to stock up on supplies and find effective treatments. Even in the places that got fucked hard like Italy and Spain the majority of people dying are still 60+ with preexisting medical conditions.
Yeah hospitals arent ready to handle them hence why our medical system is on the verge of breaking down. And once it does and said "ill geezers" clog up the capacity young people will die as well because there is no personell or equipment left to deal with other issues like infections, broken bones or cancer treatment.
So although Corona might only kill old geezers, once the medical system is gone we are practically back in the 1900 until the old geezers stop clogging the system.
Not that user btw.
It's not about the kills, it's about the available hospital space.
But really, the gyms are the LEAST dangerous spaces to be with this pandemic. If the owners stop being dirty jews, they would impose a person limit, say only 30 people max at any one time, mandatory wiping with a cleaning solution of every weight and machine after use. People in the gym already change clothes / shoes and everyone has their own towel.
Hell, even demanding every person who steps in the gym wear a mask would be fine.
Honestly I'm more concerned with taking the fucking bus every fucking day to show up at my job, than going to the gym.
have u been to a hospital
its literally fucking empty retard
>over 10% in the uk, france, italy, spain,,,
>doesnt think thta can happen in his country
>its just flu
>find effective treatments
which still has not happened
So the hospitals will be full of people with coronavirus, meaning not enough beds for people with other conditions, which means a huge wave of death of all ages. Come out of lockdown too soon and exponential growth of the virus is inevitable.
Gyms arent opening until late June lol
>, mandatory wiping with a cleaning solution of every weight and machine after use
Most people in my gym are black or Turks so I don't see this succeeding. Probably the case in other gyms too
actual lies
Just wait until the Brazilfags try to leave south america and fuck up central and north mexico enmass.
>he watches dumb conspiracy theories on youtube that claims an empty reception area equals empty
Actually i have gotten bigger and i got the 3d delt look for spamming push ups everyday. Now i started taking the neckpill aswell.
Home workouts are better and im never going back to the gym again for one reason and only. HYGIENE. Nothing will be the same again.
Safe is the new sexy
Not sure where you currently live, but most stores I really care about seem to be shut down. Yeah the mall being shut or a few restaurants sucks, but it isn't much. In addition, I can still go places like my friend's house without having a "Papers Please" experience. I think since where I live isn't hit like a freight train, it's not really that bad or heavily restricted (for now.)
Most "bigger stores" usually are deemed essential, so I'm not too concerned about that.
>Yeah hospitals arent ready to handle them hence why our medical system is on the verge of breaking down
Outside of like NYC and a few other cities most US hospitals are empty.
Those numbers are bunk because they're only counting people with a severe enough infection to seek treatment and ignoring the massive iceberg of asymptomatic people and mild cases. Also if you look at the numbers in those places its still overwhelmingly geezers who are actually dying. Most young people don't even need treatment, for the vast majority of the population its literally just a flu.
There's a few promising drug trials right now.
New Yorks crowded and filthy, its not representative of the rest of America at all. Pretty much the rest of the US is doing fine and the IHME death projections have been so inaccurate that they've had to bring down the best case scenario projection of 200,000 Americans by August (which assumed full social distancing) down to only 60,000.
>There's a few promising drug trials right now.
still a minimum of 6 months away
what the fuck does social distincing matter in a gym if people use the same bars and handle the same surfaces
Which is fine because summer is coming up and its speculated that this virus is seasonal so by the time a second wave pics up in the fall those trials will be ready.
You just keep on making up new scenarios to support your view.
You are wrong, kid.
Because the gyms never enforced the rules before, lazy employees and shit jew management (as many people as possible, as cheapest equipment as possible, as little order as possible, as little employees as possible, all to reduce costs and increase profit). But if the employees would stop fucking around on their phones all day, and were actually doing their fucking job maintaining the gym, and if the management would actually provide with cleaning and wipes and all the materials needed, and if the personal trainers would actually kick people out for not following the rules, I assure you no coronachan would hit any gyms.
Simple as.
Actually, these sorts of pandemics don't come out for shits and giggles, and don't spread for shits and giggles. They come out and spread because people are fucking dirty, lazy, insufferable and smear shit on everything they touch. The managers of every business want to increase profits while decrease costs, so they cheap out on shit, cheap out on salaries, the employees are doing shit jobs because the pay is shit, they don't clean the work space because their bosses cheap out on cleaning materials. In turn this causes all sorts of unsanitary conditions for viruses to spread and create pandemics. There's a very good reason while the simple act of washing hands removes 99% of all deadly shit.
There's a very good reason why people don't die at the first sign of a cough anymore (well, now they do), and it ain't because of our incredible medical science.
The modern medical sciences are very niche. We can do all sorts of complicated surgeries but the truth is, 99.99999% of the planet only needs to wash their fucking hands and wipe their fucking shit hole and not eat literal shit of the ground.
God I mad
>let's kill our economy and ruin our lives because obese old people are dying
shut the fuck up idiot. just because you always stay at home because you're a pathetic fucking loser with no friends doesn't mean we all need to. fucking bitch. i bet your life hasn't changed since all of this bullshit got enacted. i bet this website is your only contact with the outside world. that and your mommy bringing down supper and tendies.
>Try 18 months
Try my foot in your ass you fucking bitch.
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST RELY ON ACTUAL SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION AND REMAIN OPTIMISTIC IN HARD TIMES YOU MUST BE A COOL DEPRESSED DOOMERINO LIKE ME AND ONLY TRUST DISASTER PORN ON TV NEWS! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE AND THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO!
If you're in the US, you need to have known by now that multiple military hospitals used to treat non-COVID patients or used in case of overflow of COVID patients in hospitals were basically empty. Multiple metropolitan cities where a large expectation of cases were to grow had military presence to deal with a potential overflow which never happened.
In addition to your graphs of COVID-19 deaths, you need to look at it objectively. People have died yes, but look how they are actively recording deaths. The media and officials have noted that regardless of death, if the patient had suspected or actually had COVID, it's counted as a COVID mortality. In addition, this year has been one of the LOWEST years for pneumonia deaths due to these deaths probably being listed as COVID deaths. This will greatly increase probable numbers of COVID deaths if any deaths suspected of COVID are counted.
I don't want to say anything wrong but take it with a grain of salt, but I remember reading an article that said NYC has added thousands of deaths due to possible COVID 19 deaths before the outbreak got really bad.
In addition, the sharp peak correlates with the hospitalizations related to COVID 19. Recently, NY has had a gradual decline of COVID hospitalizations. The increase of deaths is from when hospitalizations were PEAKED, so of course eventual death tolls were to increase also. I'm no expert, but eventually, deaths from NYC will begin to decrease once patients from the before peak to peak either make recovery or pass away (no other kind way to put it).
>making things up on Yas Forums that goes against what every medical association in the world
>scientific information
It's time for you to go home.
What do you believe I've made up? Also redditors are the ones freaking out about this.
Highly doubt they will, or highly doubt this went trigger another wave of corona cases.
Gyms in Australia are talking about opening up at the end of the year, or even next year
Harsh as it may sound, Italy has literally taken old geezers off the machines for the purpose of taking care of young people instead. Other countries have implied that they would do the same. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to wait out the relaxation of the rules by three additional weeks, but I found that bit of news hopeful.
That there is an imminent cure.
That the virus will magically dissappear for 6 months during the summer.
That only coronavirus victims will die due to coronavirus.
That you are not a basedboy redditor.
>Brazilfags
Those guys are going to coof their lungs out before they make it to their own borders, the way they're going.
>Italy has literally taken old geezers off the machines
Only in certain cases.
It is up to the individuals providing the care and it does not solve the problem.
Australia is a weird situation because you guys are about to have your winter and flu season while the northern hemisphere are leaving theirs. You guys haven't really been hit hard yet probably due to seasonality.
>That there is an imminent cure.
I said they're working on stuff rn.
>That the virus will magically dissappear for 6 months during the summer.
It wont magically disappear but its likely it won't spread as easily.
>That only coronavirus victims will die due to coronavirus.
I never implied that, I just don't think the hospitals will end up being overwhelmed at this point since trends are indicating a plateau already.
>That you are not a basedboy redditor.
What, by chance, are your political inclinations?
>Dying is the only bad thing that can happen to you
>Mild cases include everyone who isn't hospitalized, including people who have full on pneumonia
Yeah, you can sit at home suffering three weeks of pneumonia like it ain't shit, but simply "not dying" isn't the same as "just peachy".
Most young people will only get mild cases that won't have pneumonia.
>trends are indicating a plateau already.
because everyone is in lockdown you mongo
Can't gyms just be run like a fancy restaurant where a limited number of people reserve time slots?
And its happening much faster than was initially predicted with lockdown.
Question: do you unironically believe we need to be locked inside until they devise a vaccine that may never exist? And do you believe that the population will comply with it willingly, or governments would willingly tank their nations economies to achieve this?
>is it still worth getting a home gym?
Yes, it always is.
Unless you're the "muh motivation" type, in which case it's harder to justify new and expensive equipment that won't see much use.
>New Yorks crowded and filthy, its not representative of the rest of America at all.
Thats excuses. This kind of outbreak can happen in any population center, whether it is filthy or not doesn't make a fucking difference.
Towns in the countryside aren't save either, the hotbed of european infection was a small sky resort named Ischgl in Austria with just 1600 people and a bunch of hotels, spreading everywhere across the contintent because one bartender was working while sick.
There need to be measures on a state by state basis based on the prevelance of infection in each one, true, but don't delude yourself into thinking that NYC is somehow anymore prone to aerosol transmitted infectious diseases than other cities.
>That only Coronavirus victims will die due to Coronavirus
I'm sorry, but what the actual fuck do you mean? If you get Coronavirus, doesn't that automatically make you a Coronavirus victim/patient? How the fuck do you die of something you don't have? That's like saying, "Too bad Jimmy died of AIDS but didn't have AIDS to start out with."
The imminent cure part and "magically disappear" part I can see possible reasonable explanations but ONLY CORONAVIRUS VICTIMS WILL DIE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS is so completely fucking absurd that I can't even fucking rationalize what you mean.
I like a healthy deal of pessimistic views, it keeps those with too much optimism in check. But holy fucking shit I can't wrap my head around that statement.
>And its happening much faster than was initially predicted with lockdown.
another lie
