Chin Ups Plateau

>be me, doing pull ups and chin ups for a while
>made great progress and reached 20 chin ups
>and thats 20 with good form and no kipping, so actual reps
>but stuck at 20 for months on end, no progress
>try adding weight, now I'm doing 10lbs weighted chin ups
>that isnt much weight but its enough to make them a lot harder
>trouble is I'm not still making progress, with that 10lbs of weight I can only do 10 reps
>and been stuck at 10 for weeks
Wat do Yas Forums? Am I not progressing because that 10lbs of weight isnt enough, or is there something else I need to do to progress like build arm strength? Have any anons been in a similar situation to me and broken the plateau?

you reached your natty limit

maybe use proper programming and not be stubbornly fixated on chinups. How about you change things up

>Wat do Yas Forums? Am I not progressing because that 10lbs of weight isnt enough, or is there something else I need to do to progress like build arm strength?
Just to the russian fighter pullup program you fucking moron

Why the fuck are you only using 10lbs lmao if you can do 20 reps you can add at least 70lbs and still do about 4-7.

I havent been training for nearly long enough to be at the limit though

Change things up how? Like just focus on increasing strength in general? I was bulking and strength training before the lockdown, but that was cut short when the gym was closed. I did gain a lot of mass and increase my lifts by a lot, but not as much as I was aiming for. What can I do from home bro?

Kek I'll look into that

I only have 40lbs of weight at home, and with all that I can only do 2 reps, and that's while really struggling on the second one. Is 2 reps enough to make progress from? Or would you suggest that I use enough weight that I can do 4-7 reps, which is probably like 20lbs?

>20 chinups body weight
>only 2 with 40lbs
Something is wrong here. Either you are lying or stupid.
Do not reply unless you post a video of you doing chinups

change up things in terms of rep scheme, chinup-similar exercises (e.g. pullups, different grips, weighted and or change to different weights and reps, yet still at good intensity (rpe)), do i really have to teach you how (strength) programming works?

Nigga when I add 40lbs I weigh 200, it's hard to do chin ups when you're that heavy. If I was a 110lbs twink 40lbs would be no problem sure, but that isn't the case

Thank you user

Change things up is correct. Maybe op is at natty limit working those muscles in that way, at that angle etc.
I would advise working out the same muscles in a different way for at least 2 workouts then come back at chinups.
I have to alternate barbel and dumbbell press to improve bench 1rm

>it's hard to do chin ups when you're that heavy
I weigh 95kg, that's 209. My max bodyweight pullups is 15. +20kg (45lbs) I can do 7.
You are stupid or lying.
Again, do not reply unless you post video of you doing chinups.

>anything less than 20" for AR15 in 5.56
Actual plebian tier

Nobody cares how much you weigh retard. I'm over 200lbs and can go knock out 15. I can add 100lbs and do more than you can do with 40lbs added. The problem is you're weak and likely doing them wrong and are retarded. Stop that.

good post

How are you guys doing it? I'm 220lbs and I can't even do 1

Post videos plz I gotta see this

Try to progress to one arm chin ups assisting yourself with the other hand on a towel or rope. The lower you grip the towel, the harder it gets.

You're 220lbs of lard and butter.

Do negatives, several sets a day. Soon you will be able to do 1.
Do your max pullups and then supplement with negatives. Progress will come rapidly.
Also stop being fat

If you guys are 40lbs heavier than me and are still doing 15 pullups I'm gonna guess you've been training longer than me and have a lot more muscle and strength in general, I've only been at it for a year. I'll keep doing weighted chins with that 40lbs of weight and see if I progress, maybe I'll reach your levels one day bros

I've always done pullups in 5x5, what's the best way to achieve 15 or 20 in one set? Doing sets to failure or reducing the rest times?

>I was bulking and strength training before the lockdown, but that was cut short when the gym was closed
ding ding ding

OP here

Sets to failure is how I got to 20

c'mon bro. i do 5x5 with 110kg combined weight and it's increasing weekly.

If you can do 5x5 then you can max much more.
AMRAP for 5 sets.
See the Russian Fighter pullup program already mentioned for another method.

nigger I'm 280 and I can get 6-8 chin-ups on my first set

Fuck you rifleman, sbr master race

>Nobody cares how much you weigh retard
A 160lbs man reaching 200lbs with weight and then doing chin ups isn't the same as a guy who actually weighs 200lbs doing them - the actual 200lbs guy has 40lbs of extra muscle to help while for the 160lbs guy that extra 40lbs is just pure burden making it harder. It's no surprise that the 160lbs guy cant do as many at that weight as the actual 200lbs guy

Cope. Literally the only difference is he's weak.

Retard, adding 40lbs of weight to your chin ups doesn't make you 40lbs more muscular. It's literally the same as having an extra 40lbs of fat in that it's just extra weight which doesn't assist you in any way

You really think a 200lbs fatass and a 200lbs 10% bf chad are gonna have the same number of pull ups? Of course not, because its lean mass that counts, not just how much you weigh

Half reps don’t count

moron, reread the thread
Hint: 160 + 40 = 200, 200 + 40 = ?

160 lb is absolute twink mode

Get stronger
Gain weight
Same as every other lift, it's not rocket science

None of that matters, you don't try to bring some elaborate cope math into benching 315.

Weight is weight, lift it or don't.

100% this. Numbers aren't even close to adding up.

YOU GOTTA SHOCK THE BODY

I'm seriously doubting some of the numbers ITT

First off going for 15 reps at over 200lbs is hard to believe, and theres that one nigga saying he goes for reps at over 300lbs

Top kek I notice how none of them posted bodies too
