My fiancée is going to start taking prenatal vitamins soon.
Are they just over-priced multivitamins? or is there some kind that are actually worth it?

I don’t know
You're asking the wrong board dude
They mainly have a shit ton more folic acid then normal vitamins. You can get something it's probably cheaper to do a mulivitamin with a zinc supplement.
But this is your future child so stop being so jewish. It literally 20 dollars a month for some high quality gummy vitamins or 180 for whole term pregnancy.
Do you not have job OP?
what's wrong with just eating food?
Did socrates', jesus', caesar's, etc's mother eat some magic pills to produce great men?
no
avoid inorganic things like plastic (contain xenoestrogens).
My girlfriend took then when she first got pregnant, she said it helped. Even if they are overpriced. I'd rather have a healthy baby no matter how much I have to spend yet alone an extra 15 dollars
Check the Mayo clinic site and you shouldn't ask Yas Forums for advice about pregnancies.
The Weston A Price Foundation promotes hack science as nutritional information. Do not take their word alone on it. Sally Fallon also has no background in nutrition, listening to her at face value is dangerous.
why would you ever go to Yas Forums for advice about this
It's worth it, to my knowledge the dose of folic acid they recommend for pregnant women is by prescription only. I'd do anything I possibly could to give my child the benefits. The average height of humans has been increasing over the centuries because of nutrition, prenatal nutrition is absolutely vital
Please, Please read Deep Nutrition (free ebook: gen.lib.rus.ec
The book covers ideal diet and practices for parents before conceiving. It also covers nutritional practices for when you are raising children.
This book changed my life I really really beg you to read it before you shoot from the hip on which vitamins matter and such.
Basically dietary practices related to whether you eat oils/sugar especially heated oils as well as whether you eat organ meat (principally liver) will dramatically affect the health of your child.
Second this.
Was about to start trying before finding out about this. Read it in a week and now doing several months nutritional prep. Can't be understated how useful this book is.
Caesar had terrible health
Make her pee in your mouth and you'll get the vitamins too.
Thank you so much! I'll be sure to read it
Lol at all of the people asking why I would ask here. I knew someone would have something like this
>he got started AFTER conception
oh no no no no look at the top of his son
What do you mean girlfriend, why don't you marry her when she already has your child?
Drink the milky too user
You got her pregnant before you were married.
Degenerates not welcome on Yas Forums
Folate tablet and a multivitamin. Pre natal supplements are a money grab. We just got 90 folate tablets (500mcg) from the chemist for $7.99 the leading prenatal supplement is exactly the same plus Iodine, B3 and iron. $69.99 for 100 tabs
Oh and to add to that (I'm the 7.99 folate tab guy) you want to make sure she is getting between 500 and 700 mcg of folate per day from what our health department says to reduce the risk of neural tube defects. It's nothing to do with fertility, just defective children
Why not ask her doctor?
A lack of folic acid, vitamin K, and some other shit can dramatically increase the chances of deformations, health problems, mental limitations, etc.
It's over priced multivitamins, but it's a particular set of micronutrients that will reduce the chance of your kid becoming a vegetable or turning into a natural abortion.
You're paying the extra price not for the vitamins themselves, but for the security that she's not going to be missing any of the crucial blocks.
Just get it. It's a very small money investment for the security it brings.
> Doesn’t get the vitamins
> Everytime the kid does something retarded you blame yourself for not getting them
For your mental health user get them even though they’re probably a scam
Folic acid and iodine are a must. Off memory it's to prevent neural tube defects. I don't know where you are user, but doctors here prescribe them for the full term of the pregnancy and its subsidised here. She should get her iron levels checked too and make sure she's having a lot of calcium.
My wife took elevit before she was pregnant and for the first trimester off memory, I didn't bother with the menevit when we were trying to conceive. Yeah it's way overpriced, but peace of mind for her.
I take prenatal vitamins everyday but I'm sometimes worried they put harmful substances in these the way they do with vaccines.
I plan on it user. Just got a new job, saving up for a ring
Shut the fuck up you retarded faggot. Never post again.
Folate is not a scam, without it you can get neural tube defects, resulting in heads that don't close and poorly developped brains. Just take them.
t. Doc
dont drink alcohol at all, neither of you, skip smoking, dont eat fast food. basic shit, dont be unhealthy.
Tell her to not drink fluoride during the pregnancy it lowers IQ in offspring by around 5-7 points and this is backed up with plenty of empirical data
