What is fasting?
>A period of time where you don't consume ANY calories
What is the shortest time I can fast?
>16:8. A 16 hour fast and 8 hour eating window per day
What is the longest time I can fast?
>You can fast as long as you have more than 8% body fat and supplement correctly
How do I supplement correctly?
>Get enough minerals. Mainly sodium and potassium
Where do I get sodium and potassium?
>Sodium Chloride is table salt or pink salt. Potassium Chloride is salt substitute, found by the salt in grocery stores
Can I just take sodium without potassium?
>No. This is how you fuck your shit up. Potassium is non-negotiable
How much sodium and potassium?
>2500 mg / 1 teaspoon of each is a good start
Can I take all the salt at once?
>No. You will shit yourself and flush electrolytes. Mix the salts with 1-2 L of water and sip throughout the day. Mixture is called snake juice
Can I just drink water without salts?
>For shorter fasts, yes. But for long ones, you'll deplete your electrolytes and feel like shit
How long can I go on just water?
>Til you feel like shit
Any other minerals I need?
>Some add magnesium to their routine as well
What about multivitamins?
>Not really necessary
Anything else I can add to my routine?
>If your gut is fucked, you can add cayenne pepper
>Some do 1 tsp of baking soda and 0.5 tsp sodium cl for kidney health
>Some take ACV and lemon juice. Acids fuck your teeth, so don't mix with snake juice. Take separately
Coffee, tea, sweeteners?
>Can raise cortisol and insulin, reducing effects of fasting. Otherwise okay
Why not just do CICO?
>CICO fucks with both your TDE and your insulin levels in ways that fasting does not. Also, fasting has other health benefits
What are the other benefits of fasting?
>Autophagy, reduced inflammation, HGH boost, immune system recovery, increased insulin sensitivity, more muscle sparing

Fasting is great, and I’ve done it with and without carbs and I will say that with carbs is not very effective. I actually gained weight eating only two meals a day in what was usually an 18:6 schedule.

Right now I’m pretty close to zero carb including fiber and the weight is falling off again. Also, OMAD is pretty much trivial eating this way.

fasting with carbs is great for maintaining weight while building muscle in my experience.

Will coffee and diet coke fuck up my 16:8 regular fasts?

>Fasting
>18:6

Yes(no)

Is coffee good for you?

From what I've read, there's a wide consensus that plain black coffee is perfectly fine, artifical sweeteners have divided opinion. Some sources say they're okay, others say they activate the same insulin response you're trying to avoid during your fasting window. Personally I air on the side of caution

No but 16:8 is a meme beyond calorie control.
Just do a full day (wake up twice) without eating

Guess I'll just drink some really cold water then
Wake up twice?
But my goal is indeed calorie control, I get really fucking hungry on OMAD, don't really care about being that distracted

Fasting was most effective for me when I go a full day at minimum without a single meal so wake up Tuesday and don't eat until sometime Wednesday

>fasting
>not eating 40g protein every 2 hours

I just gained fat.

I’m assuming it’s more efficient to fast for longer periods of time you don’t have to keep kicking yourself back into ketosis after refeed. What’s the most efficient though? One day seems too short. 2 days? 3 days? What about diminishing returns?

I do either/or when cutting depending on training schedule. 72s are more effective at cutting weight of course.

So I have >pic related and the label says it has Potassium Chloride, salt, and Magnesium Sulfate.

Would I be going wrong if I drank it or would it fuck me or my fast up?

2 hours until I've hit 48. Dunno if it's worth it to go for 72 or to just get something to eat in 2 hours.

>t. fake elitist who thinks his one 5 day fast tells him more than two years of IF
I’ve done extended fasts too, go fuck yourself. I’m trying to tell people not to waste their time doing stupid shit, you’re trying to look like you have a big digital dick (even though it’s small and embarrassing and I pity you)

>lose 100 pounds
>still have mantits
>still can't see my jawline and have jowls
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

it's ok baby i's ok.

it took 20+ years to fuck up your body, it'll take some time to unfuck it.

Can't get a hold of any potassium chloride for a week, would I still be fine without it for a 3 day fast?

can't just go to a grocery or pharmacy, bro?

Congrats on the weightloss though, bro. You've completed the hardest (or part of the hardest if you still have more to lose) part of the journey in terms of making it. Losing weight is always the most difficult thing for people to do.

Read the OP

I tried, nothing at the grocery and when I asked at the chemist they said they didn't have any, the only potassium supplement they had you need a prescription for, I live in a rural area so I'm having to get it shipped

Have you faggots noticed how Fung's shirts never fit and he talks like a psychopath?

I will be completing a full day of fasting soon out of possibly three. This is the longest I've gone so far with intermittent fasting being the longest before. Is it possible to go three days without snake juice or should I just use it? Asking because I want to do this with just water.

you'll be fine for one 3 day fast. repeated 3 day fasts you need to supplement electrolytes aka drink the snake juice

I've been fasting for about over two weeks. Doing OMAD and eating a meal the size of just one meal, absolutely not going overboard (today just had half a steak and a few broccoli and cauliflower, that's fucking it).
Also doing Keto so full on Snake Diet, and drinking the shitty salty water.
The past 5 fucking days I've stayed the same exact weight. I do max Incline walking on the treadmill every day for an hour, and I sweat. I was SHREDDING weight in the beginning but now what the fucks up? I'm thinking of doing a 48hr fast maybe? Should I go harder at the gym? I'm eating basically as little as I can get away with already, I pretty much eat nothing.
6'2 stuck at 247lbs
Should I just stick with it and wait it out?

So basically refeed for a couple of days or so then go at it again?

yeah be sure you get a fuck ton of salt and potassium from the foods you're eating tho for real

your consistent caloric deficit reset your set point TDE.
Eat a large normal meal once every 2 days and keep doing what you're doing otherwise.

this is a good video explaining Fung's and other's theory of obesity: youtube.com/watch?v=xlfZvnV4v50
good for ADHD zoomers

You did good and you'll lose the tits eventually

How much does IF accelerate fat loss vs a standard deficit?

If -1000 cals leads to 2 lbs lost per week, how much would you expect to lose if you just added IF?

NOT MUCH. DO A 72.

Almost 36 hours into my first 48 hour water fast. So far I've been sticking to only snake juice although I drank some fresh water during and after the gym. I also had some black tea in the morning and will probably drink some non-caffeinated herbal tea before bed.

Have to say, I'm really enjoying the fast so far. My lifts didn't suffer and I actually hit a new PR. I think I'll do a 48 hour fast every two weeks, then possibly increase to 72 hours.

Not too hard, but again it's a pretty short fast. I'm not fat at all, but I'm on a cut and I think fasting will help lean me out. I've been unintentionally doing OMAD or at least 16:8 for probably years now.

Good luck man

I'm 36 hours into my 80h fast. Plenty of water, green tea and yerba mate. Also snake juice with a dash of lemon juice. I've done 62-64 hour fasts in the past but this time I want to move past this and set a new record. I usually do one such fast per month and so far it's been great for me. I don't do any heavy lifting during the fast, just some light bodyweight exercises and a bit of running.

That's because you weren't fasting.

What are the benefits of dry fasting? I don't really get it

Let me clarify:
Does it help with loose skin? What are the benefits over snake juice fasting? It seems bs to me

People do it to drop water weight and look more defined in bodybuilding, there's some speculative health benefits. I wouldn't bother with it for losing weight personally

Fair enough.

Loose skin? Not really proven, but good autophogy state will help. Dry fasting doesn't really kick you into that state any faster than a wet fast. So to answer the question, no.

Benefits:
>>

Should only dry fast one a month, its dangerous to do it back to back.

Anyone ever tried to countering the cold limbs with even more cold like a shower? I'm gonna attempt it this week, as my biggest enemy is the cold feeling

>16:8. A 16 hour fast and 8 hour eating window per day

I've never understood this, what does an 8 hour eating window mean? Like you can eat as many healthy meals for 8 hours every day? I thought one meal day was best.

Update:
fasted: 89 hours in, about 10 days left
Starting weight:95.5kg
Current weight:90.9kg
Morning of the second day was the most difficult, felt really frail at the gym. Now things are better and I can do an hour on a treadmill. Nothing crazy but keeping my heart rate at around 125.
Also started taking apple cider vinegar, teaspoon on a glass of water one or two times a day. It feels good but not sure if it's just placebo.
Because of the threat of coronavirus I will stop going to the gym at the time I usually go. I might start going at 5am when there is nobody there or maybe I just go for a walk and do body weight exercises. I know I don't die to it but it's not something I want to deal with. I don't want to be testing what the virus does for someone who hasn't eaten for a week.

correction
tablespoon, not teaspoon

It takes 3 to 5 days(the day amount depends on how ketogenic you were previously and how much energy you expend in for mof exercise) to get into proper fasting ketosis. Your metabolic rate goes down on those first days but it will pick again up once you get past them. The most efficient way is to not do any refeeds but to do a single long fast that goes as long as you are about 4 kilos below your goal weight.

it can sometimes be necessary if you are training and want to perform to your max potential

>break fast, carb load
>wait 1.5-2 hrs to digest
>go to gym and workout for 1.5-2 hrs
>eat post-workout meal in 1-2hrs
you basically need a 4-6 hour eating window to properly train with a fasting routine

Ah true, thanks.

Been doing 16:8 and low carb (less than 20 grams a day) and eating 1200-1400 calories a day and lately I’ve been feeling quite tired all the time
I should probably eat more meat or 30 grams of carbs a day

>tfw your heart palpitates a little bit

No! Not the insulin!
Not the heckin gherlinerino!
Body! This is for your own good!

Down 8.4 lbs on the week, and I still gotta sleep. Will eat in the morning...

Woop

Can i WATER FAST down to 10%? I’ve got like 20lbs to go and want to do one extended water fast to put a decent dent in it.
Is this viable/efficient or should i just stick to IF?

just fast. IF is more for maintenance imo

Is eating only on training days a good tool for cutting? I'm currently training 4 days a week and can't be arsed counting calories.

Read the OP

Does anyone smoke or chew nicotine gum while fasting? Some say it's ok, but the others say it's not.

How big of a smoker are you? I recently quit and didn't notice a difference. Then again I was smoking pack a week.
I think it's a good time to quit or lower the ammount of cigarettes when fasting, healthier either way.
Chewing gum will disturb the fast. Cole made a video about it.
