I care and I buy mostly physical games for this reason. Moreover, I avoid like plague online based Nintendo games, since they are the fastest at shutting down servers. And I will buy a Switch only when the new console is out and it will be possible to hack it without problems.

Purchases on the Nintendo eShop should have been account-tied in the first place, not console-tied.
Nintendo used Gamespy for their Wii and DS servers and they never thought or cared about the possibility of it ever shutting down.
