There have been so many made over the years that it feels wrong to just talk about a couple. This is a thread for the entire Final Fantasy Franchise
Which games have you completed? Which one was your favorite? Which combat system did you like the best? Which one had the best summons? Which one had the best overall setting?
I've beat FF2, FF6, and FF9, currently playing FF7.
I think I'm enjoying FF7's combat system best so far, and overall like FF7 and FF9's setting the best.
Really hard to name a fave, FF6, FF7, and FF9 all have their ups and downs doing different things.
I think they found a good formula with systems that allow for player experimentation with party setups, giving party members their own backstories intertwined with the plot, and segments, where the the party breaks up into separate groups and action setpieces to start the adventure with.
I think FF9 really suffered mostly from being a late ps1 game in terms of loading times and cutting content out
>how dare you talk about video games on Yas Forums - Video Games Just close the tab now retard

I don't know why FF9 turned me off so much in the beginning as a kid, maybe it was because the protagonist was a catman that I didn't stick with it long enough to get further than the initial zeppelin crash
Blake King
ff9 is for vivi vivi is the best
Blake Foster
Zidane is literally a dragonball monkey
Xavier Thompson
Just started playing 10 because I want a comfy linear story, and it's pretty much delivering on what I want so far.
Lincoln Jenkins
I think ff9 does suffer a little from starting slower than ff6 or ff7's action heavy openings.
I liked Zidane overall but would have liked to have had more of his fuccboi lifestyle and personality fleshed out during the middle parts
Evan Butler
Quina was my fave, would totally have played a Quina spinoff adventure
Liam Stewart
out of what I've played: >A Tier VI, VII, IX >B Tier X, IV, VII Remake >C Tier VIII >D Tier XV

4 has always been my favorite. Mechanically it may be lacking compared to others by the fact that it quickly makes it clear, at least for your first playthough, that no character is really safe adds a bit more connection to the characters.

>Which games have you completed? 1,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,12,15 and several spin offs >Which one was your favorite? 5 >Which combat system did you like the best? any with ATB >Which one had the best summons? meh >Which one had the best overall setting? meh
About 3 hours in to XII now and I'm digging this style of combat with the freeform movement and gambits
Reminds me of Dragon Age Origins mixed with Kingdom Hearts
Sebastian Nelson
I feel like FFX did it right with the summon system, where the summon became a party member as opposed to the earlier systems where the summon was just a stronger spell with flashier graphics.
That being said I wish my main man Alexander had been in that game.
Will we get FF XVI anytime in the next 3-4 years? Has there been any word on it from SE or are they full on Remake bonanza and we probably won't get 16 until end of PS5's lifecycle.
Completed I, II, played III, XIV First was really good, played the fuck out of the dawn of souls GBA version II was good too, even though Firion looked fuckin gay XIV is a fantastic waifu making experience, mine was a Dragoon

>Which games have you completed? All of them except XI >Which one was your favorite? FFVIIRemake >Which combat system did you like the best? FFX >Which one had the best summons? FFVIII because actually getting them implies a significant boost to your party (stats and skills) and significantly changes the gameplay (new actions during combat, etc) while also not having to actually use them in battle (I hate using summons in battles) >Which one had the best overall setting? Final Fantasy 9 if it wasn't for the terrible pacing Final Fantasy 7 being a close contender too.
>Which games have you completed? 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 ,9 ,10, 12, 13, 15, 7R >Which one was your favorite? 9 >Which combat system did you like the best? 7R >Which one had the best summons? 9 >Which one had the best overall setting? 9

>Which games have you completed? All except for III and some spin-offs
>Which one was your favorite? V, VII, IX, XI, and XII are my top five, but I go back and forth on which one I like the most
>Which combat system did you like the best? X-2 is the best for classic ATB+Job system fun, but I'm also really enjoying VIIR's combat at the moment. I think it's the best they've done so far with the newer hybrid style.
>Which one had the best summons? I think the PS1 trilogy has the best spectacle, but X, XII, and VIIR have the best functionality. I think Ark from IX is particularly cool though.
>Which one had the best overall setting? VII, IX, and XI. It's a large part of why I like those ones so much.

>completed 1-10, 12,15,DoC,CC,X-2,Theatrhythm,tactics, TA,mystic quest,dissidia, D012,DNT, Type 0 >9 >type 0 or 9(the slow speed never bothered me and im a sucker for pre determined roles) >10 >9

My pic answer all of those questions except >Which one had the best summons? VI or IV
1 was whatever, 2 was fucking terrible, so that sounds like a god awful idea to be honest i have some series loyalty and that's the ONLY reason i might EVER touch 2 someday

so are you saying i should start with 3 and go in order, or what order should i take?
Nolan Jones
I liked XV, is something wrong with me?
Matthew Jenkins
It doesn't matter they are not connected to each other. I started with the one i thought had the best logo and went from there
Landon Hughes
i'm not sure about a perfect answer to your question so hopefully someone else will come with better ideas than i have i'm just saying, don't go in number order
it might mean you have bad taste user

>Which games have you completed? Everything but 3,4,5 and the MMOs >Which one was your favorite? X >Which combat system did you like the best? X >Which one had the best summons? X >Which one had the best overall setting? X
Jayden Williams
Just look for one that seems interesting to you. I would say that IV, V, VI, VII, IX, and X are all good starting points into the series. Of those, X is the most modern and easiest to get into, but if you don't mind 2D games or early PS1 polygons, the others are all great too.
Angel Morales
Nope, it' a good enough game to kill time, I don't see why anyone would pretend it was worse than the first 3 games.
Dominic Smith
they are all varied in different ways in terms of settings, combat systems, etc so you could just pick something you are in the mood for or catches your attention.
